Can it be further then 8 “ ? Also just checked and it’s saying 46 c on the top
You want surface basking temps between 105-110 F -- if its over 110 it is too hot and 46 C is 114 correct? that is too hot -- you haft to go by your probe thermometer

Ok thank you, the platform must be holding to much heat so I’m going to move the log under his basking light, only thing is it’s not as tall as the platform so further away from the basking bulb is this ok? Thank you really appreciate all your help

Yes- that is fine- compare temps w/ it to your heat gun- probes will read off certain things IR guns cannot

Sorry could I ask where is the best place to place the probes in the tank
You don't need to leave the one on the basking platform place it on the side of your tank it will give you ambient temp- spot check your surface temps about every 10 days or so

middle of the tank using the suction cup
Thank you karrie for all your help I’ve moved the uvb lamp today so it’s directly above his basking area, well as close as I could as his basking light is in the way to get it any closer. Also I’ve been looking through the forum a lot and I’ve seen that the eco terra intense bulb is a better option for he’s basking bulb as at the moment his current one is quite orangey do you think I should change it? If so shall I stick with the 100w Also if you have any suggestions on what flooring would be good? As we currently have reptile carpet and it’s a pain to clean and crickets seem to get under them then I have to try catching them. Thank you

Ok so as long as hes basking and your basking temps are good he should be fine -- if you have a color hue to the basking bulb your using now I would change it out to a clear solid bright white bulb - and yes stick w/ the 100 watt - get a surface basking temp after you change brands - for flooring a lot of people either go w/ textured NON adhesive shelf liner cut to the size of your tank crickets cannot get underneath and clean w/ vinegar/ water 50/50 spray bottle -- or textured slated ceramic tile - something w/ texture you dont want real smooth for slippage and you dont want too coarse that it causes abrasions on the belly / feet etc -- if you go w/ tile let me know I have some pointers for you and if you are planning to upgrade to a bigger tank 75-120 gallon I would wait on the tile -- the tile will need to be cut w/ a tile cutter so your not getting jagged edges

Thank you Karrie I will be going to the store at the weekend and I’ll change his bulb to the exo terra one I will check his basking temperatures again when I change the bulb, so you know if this one is a dimmable one that will work with the thermostat dimmer I have? Also I think I’ll change to tile when get bigger tank for now could you tell me more about the textured NON adhesive shelf liner is this just normal Lino? But a textured one? Or is it a special one for reptile tanks? Thank you

Its not specifically for dragons its in your home improvement store in kitchen I am thinking or Walmart carries it too - you want NON adhesive shelf liner -- ask the store associate they should be able to point out what your looking for - as far as the Exo Terra Intense bulbs I dont think they are but you can use one of these I know people on here that use them
these can be found at your hardware stores or big box stores and are dimmable
I can have CooperDragon help you w/ this too

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
