Hey all, my beardie, baby, has had runny stool for the past 2 weeks or so. I’ll put a picture in the thread so you can see it and decide what action needs to be taken.

Baby currently lives in a 40 gal tank, is fed lettuce with food pellets for veggies and for protein, crickets often and meal worms less often. I have a PowerSun 80w UVB and a 100w Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp. Baby’s tank is cleaned once every two or 3 days, depending on how dirty they make it within those few days. Baby is around 6 months old, as I got them on the second of October last year. Baby doesn’t show any abnormal signs other than it’s stool.

I am just truly concerned if baby has parasites or if I need to change something in baby’s diet. Thank you so much and any help is appreciated!

Are you feeding iceberg lettuce? Is so please start feeding greens like collards turnip kale or mustard - the real runny stool would be caused by the iceberg lettuce+ it contains good hydration but too much- I would also stop the pellets those can cause dehydration but w/ the lettuce being fed it's good- fresh greens plus squash shredded sweet potato etc I can post a nutrition website for you- your powersun is good for heat but not so much uvb-+ I would look at adding a 24' zoo med w/ a 22" reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb-- or a 24" Arcadia pro T 5 - depending on the screen will determine where the uvb is placed- so your using 2 basking bulbs?

One is a basking the other is a UVB. Sorry if I didn’t clear that up in my original post. I currently feed baby romaine lettuce. I’ll send a picture of the bad. I keep it in a mini-fridge in my room directly next to my tank. I also keep my meal worms in there.

The powersun is a mvb which is a heat and uvb- you only need one basking bulb - are you using a digital probe thermometer to get surface basking temps? Too many heat bulbs can overheat the tank-- what are the temps in the tank? Please post a pic of your tank and lighting

Alright. I took a few photos of baby’s setup. I am not using a digital probe thermometer. If that is the recommended, I will get that. Also, would the lighting warrant the stool being like that? Thank you for the help so far.

Yes the basking temps and the UVB are the most important thing in the tank -- please get two digital probe thermometers one for the basking side and one for your cool side --- temps in the tank should be 80's cool side during the day 90's middle of the tank and 105-110 for surface basking temps these need to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer you dont need to leave the probe there all the time but it should be checked every 10 days or so -- stick the probe on the side of the tank it will give ambient temps there -- at night your tank should be 65 -75 and that can be taken w/ a stick on for ambient temps please get two of these Zoo Med Digital Thermometer
Next please get a long tube fixture for your UVB to accompany your MVB --- one of these is recommended
a 24" comes w/ a 5.0 bulb please keep it for back up the distance and placement is different from the bulb you need a 22" Reptisun 10.0 T 5 Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO Hood-- Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 UVB T5 HO
or this one 24" Arcadia Pro T 5 w/ the 12% bulb
with the way the MVB is sitting on the screen my guess is the dragon is getting very little UVB as the screen blocks 30% of the rays -- please get this as soon as you can - the UVB will need to go inside the tank as your screen is a fine mesh screen -I can help you get it placed in the tank when you get it - these things all effect the behavior and the overall health of the dragon -- also please get a hygrometer for humidity --- place the probe on the back center wall of the tank it will read your whole tank Exo Terra Digital Hygrometer | Dubia.com
Please no more meal worms -- babies stomachs are too small for the hard shell -- here is a website for nutrition Nutrition Content
kale is a good staple feeder -- you can insects on line that are cheaper than from the pet stores I can post websites for dubias - they are a better feeder -- please do not leave any crickets in the tank over nite they come out at nite and can bite the dragon and can cause infection-- you can feed the romaine

Understood. I am appreciative of your help and will get these additions to the tank. Is there a way I can contact you directly once I get the items?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
