Take a look and please tell me if any problems. Should the dry food (moist dry food) and water be on the warm side or the cool side? You can see in the picture she is on top in her favorite spot we have had her for just about 2 1/2 weeks now. She’s only eating once or twice a day, but eating well. All the crickets she can eat for up to 10 minutes. Basking spot temperature is right at 100. But she doesn’t sit there very much. One day she’ll be very active and the next day she sleeps all day. Not even sure it’s a female just guessing from the research I’ve done. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if I’m doing something wrong please tell me. Thanks for any help.

Welcome -- are you using a coil uvb in one of the domes? Basking temps and uvb are the most important things in the tank-- surface basking temps need to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer- 105 - 110

Using the zooMed reptisun 10.0 fluorescent bulb. Not a coil one. It’s in the hood. The double dome has 1 100w zooMed repti basking spot lamp on a 12hr on/off timer, the other side has a 75w heat emitter on a temp probe tstat to maintain the correct temp as the spot bulb isn’t enough to keep tank temp up. At night I use another heat emitter on the cool side, this is a 60w on the same thermostat control. And yes temp gun used also. I’m an hvac tech so temp readings are no problem. I have digital tstats mounted inside on each side of tank. Thermostat probe is mounted on the warm side of the tank. She stays at the very top of the tank most of the time, on the warm side.

Your tanks need to be 65-75 at nite -- anything else is too warm unless the dragon is sick
That’s great I was just gonnna ask that. What about day time ambient temp?80-85? Basking spot is 95-105 surface temp, with multiple levels. also this is a resin decoration. I was just assuming this was ok. Would a more natural stone be better?

One way you can tell the gender of your bearded dragon is if you lift up their tail, at the beginning of the tail there should be one or no bulge or 2 bulges. Two bulges is a male and one or no bulges is a female

Your resin is good- ambient cool side 80's- middle of tank 90's and basking spot 105-110 for a baby--- 95-100 juvie/ adult

Is the uvb a t8? If it's the thing in the middle on the top it looks like a t8 fixture. If so they aren't strong enough to pass through screen and you will either have to remove the screen or upgrade to a t5 fixture and bulb.

It’s the reptisun 10.0uvb 26w fluorescent, 12” hood. It was the 5.0 but I finally found the 10.0/26w. Lots of 13w 10.0 found, but all the reading I have done says the 26w is much better. The top is the larger opening metal mesh type, not a screen. Her energy is already improving, eating more, and basking. She was even eating some of her veggies and dry food yesterday. 1st time I’ve seen her eating veggies. She is eating about 15 1/4” crickets daily, she literally comes running. Gaining weight and length. I think we finally have her setup. I was under prepared for this endeavor of the dragon. The family loves having her, we all gather for feeding time.

Ok the 13 watt is a coil bulb goes into a dome like the basking bulb-- the 26 watt is the same - it's iffy- it must be in a reflective dome unobstructed - no screen please distance 6-8 inches and replaced in 5 months - I recommend you upgrade to a long tube fixture-- like this Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO Hood
You want the reptisun 22" 10.0 T 5

coil bulb???? This is the 26w. Not the 13w mini. This is 12” long and lasts up to one year. Supposed to anyway we will see. Very expensive and hard to find. I got the only 2 they had when I found them. I like to be prepared for any failure.

Yes that is a coil - they are not as good as the long tube fixture I posted but better than the 13 watt- most pet stores carry them and I don't like them - the 13 watt are terrible and cause all kinds of health issues and are inadequate for uvb - please get it set up like I posted and you should be ok- if you start having any eye issues that will probably be the cause- I would recommend changing it out in 5 months tho-

Those types of bulbs are what many call coil, I find it confusing since it's not a coil and would prefer calling it what it is, a cfl. But anyway. Even though you got the 26w it's still a weak bulb and I believe the equivalent of a t8 as far as the distance it needs to be. And like karrie said they need to be unobstructed, no screen in the way as they are too weak to pass through.

If possible you can move the screen over a bit. I'm not sure how long they have been proven to last but if it's also like the t8 then it's only 6 months max. You could continue to use that for a while until you upgrade to a linear tube, preferably a t5 since they are the best right now and last a year before needing to be replaced.

Just a suggestion for comfortability, but I would take one of those hammock things and hook it up so it lays flatter, like this. Sorry, it's the only pic I have on my phone right now, and I'm too lazy to go back in the living room.

Reason being, she's gonna grow fast, and sometimes they like to lay completely flat out, and she can't do that the way the hammocks are set up now.

But, cute setup, and cute lil girl!

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
