Please put the distance 12 inches from the basking decor w/ the 10.0 bulb-- or switch back to the 5.0 w/ distance 6-8 inches I didn't realize the height of the tank was only 12 inches- has he been basking under the uvb at all?
Okay I will do that. Yes, he’s been under the uvb constantly, he doesn’t move around the tank too much, mostly stays on the hot side. He only puts his belly on the branch after he eats, other than that he stays on the ground.
Should I start giving plain calcium again? It’s bern about 3 days Since I stopped giving it

I flagged the post to AHBD and Tracie - they can weigh in on the calcium thing - if hes been under the UVB constantly hes been absorbing the calcium then that good - but we need one of them to give suggestions on that

I'd cut the D3 down to 2 times a week max. The other 5 days just use a calcium only supplement (only dust the first insect feeding of the day). He should be metabolizing enough D3 under that UV.

Excess D3 can be just as dangerous as not enough.

You can try handfeeding him small pieces of greenery as his first meal of the day when he's at his most hungry. Sometimes they cant help themsleves and happily grab anything gently wiggled in front of them.

Thanks so much for the reply! I will definitely do the things you suggested! I always leave him a salad in the morning before I leave for work, but he doesn’t seem TOO interested in it. He has eaten some squash today (hand fed). Hopefully he’s not becoming too lazy 😝
Thanks again for the advice!

Youngsters can be notoriously difficult to start off on their greens but if you hand feed them some at their first meal of the day they eventually start taking it for themselves. My young female has a really weird quirk herself. She will eat greens out of the bowl but if I put a solitary piece of greenery in a random spot in the viv away from the bowl its guaranteed that she will eventually go over to it and eat it lol so maybe try that :)

They all have their weird little ways :)

Hi there, that's likely either a neurological problem or an inner ear infection. Have you soaked him at all so that water could have gotten in his ear ? If it continues find a good reptile vet, if it's an ear infection antibiotics can clear it up. If you take him to a vet have the video with you in case he doesn't exhibit the behavior there.

Neurological problem was the first thing that popped into my head too as soon as I saw the video. I've seen this kind of behaviour numerous times over the years and particularly in snakes.

Inner ear infection is possible but I think your first guess is more likely the problem

Hello there, thank you for your reply. He has since stopped this behavior. His balance is back to normal and not having any problem catching his bugs! I did take him to the vet a few days ago and just waiting to hear back on blood and fecal tests. I thought maybe he did have water in his ears or ear infection possibly from misting him. So far whatever it was/is seems to have cleared up on its own.

Well that's surprising, things don't usually clear up that quickly but that's really good to hear . :)

Hi Tracie!

I just heard back from the vet they said he has pinworms and coccidia. They are going to prescribe some antibiotics - Ponazuril specifically.
His behavior has dramatically changed, he seems totally normal. Is that common? Perhaps it wasn’t even the parasite causing the symptoms, but the d3/calcium imbalance?
I’ll attach some photos of Norbert. He’s becoming a bit more tame and letting us hold and pet him! ♥️

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
