My beardie, Delta, has been having some issues lately. (I’m currently treating her for a moderate case of pinworms daily, by syringe) and also giving her 0.07 mL of calcium glubionate syrup every 24 hours. My vet recommended that, since she dropped weight from her parasites. Delta also is experiencing a type of fungus on her shoulder pad.
To say I’m worried sick is an understatement.
But the reason for discussion today is about the top of her head. Never until the past couple months has Delta had health issues, but now they seem to be accumulating rather fast and it’s breaking my heart! Any help would be appreciated. Here is my setup.
- 40gal tank
- paper towel as substrate, with one hiding rock
- hammock directly underneath heat bulb (she stays here constantly to bask AND sleep at night)
- i turn off the uvb at night, but keep the heat on (there is no light in her tank at night)
- T5 Uvb bulb, but it’s a rod that stretches across the whole tank.
*In a previous thread, I was informed that the screen roof blocks out a LOT of essential rays that Delta needs. I have since then opened her roof a couple inches so that the UVB rod is fully exposed, yet out of reach, for her to absorb rays.
- Her basking spot stays at upper 90s and low 100s, while the rest of her tank is in the 80s.
- I feed her salads daily that consist of collard greens, butternut squash, apples, and usually just leafy greens
- Because of her parasite, she’s been a bit lethargic lately. But I did manage to get some veggies in her mouth whenever I gave her her medicine .
- She bathes daily, and she has been drinking a lot of water while in the tub. (Something I almost never used to catch her doing).
-She seems very uninterested in crickets lately, and food in general including her favorite snack.
-Despite these health issues, she’s been running around in her tank a lot. Still active, still basking and gaping her mouth. The vet said her gums/inside of mouth looked great and that she isn’t underweight.
Finally I’ll give y’all some pictures of her head. I hope my sweet girl is okay, but it’s please be honest with me if the situation is worse than it looks.
Side note, she usually has very vibrant colors. Yesterday she looked super yellow, today she’s darker (i guess to absorb more heat).
