Hello. I noticed something was off about a month ago and I posted about it in this thread. I took Elliot to the vet a week later and the vet looked at me like I was was crazy, told me to put the lights back to the schedule they were at before (I thought Elliot was in partial brumation so I siete the schedule by a couple of hours. So I reset the light schedule and the vet sent his poop for examination and it was negative for parasites. Vet said to call back in a couple of weeks.

Well! Elliot’s beard has been dark a LOT in the past two days and at night, his eyes look sunken in. He’s getting baths daily! His temps are correct!! He gets a daily reptile supplement! But he isn’t eating his regular food so I’ve been blending his greens abs adding it to the supplement in hopes that he’ll take them and he is very very little at a time.

Today I think I saw throw-up in his tank. This has never happened before. It looked like an unchewed piece of squash which, since he’s barely eating right now, must have been days old.

He poops only a couple of times a week but the poop and urate is a good consistency and color… I’m so lost! Please help!

I’m attaching a photo here. I’m seriously scared at this point.
Please go over you husbandry uvb NO coils please long tube fixture I can post links and recommendations for that- basking temps taken w a digital probe thermometer- No stickons basking bulb needs to be a CLEAR bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-100 for a juvie or adult - you want surface temps not air-- these things I am posting are crucial to the health of the dragon - he should be eating insects no bigger than the space between his eyes length wise

Previously had a reptisun zoomed t5 10.0 + a thrive t8 (thrive t8 was in the warm end 6-8 inches over basking spot).

Now he just has a longer zoomed reptisun t5 10.0 with a Sun Blaster Reflector inside the tank about 12 inches from basking spot, along with his basking light.

Found another post here that described almost exactly what he’s going through abs it turned out to be liver failure so I’m freaking out.

I’m just going to take him back to the vet. Thanks.

ok sounds good --- the Thrive bulb is not a good one anyway and your better off w/ the Reptisun T 5

I hope you're wrong about the liver failure. I have been devastated 😢 by the loss of 2 dragons and it is hard to get through.

Sometimes it is hard to figure out what is wrong with a dragon without knowing what the husbandry is. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of tweaking to fix an issue.

Dragons are so quirky. I've seen reactions to dark beards, nail polish, changes in their enclosures, even things out of place in the room that they are in.
This is why we ask these questions.... you never know what might be wrong.

Thank you…. I’m so sorry to hear about your babies 😔 I understand why the questions are asked but I’ve tried to be attentive with his set up making changes when they suggested. Nothing has changed in his diet or his tank besides replacing the thrive uvb… he’s had issues for about a month waking with a dark beard and trouble eating his greens so I was gut loading his mealworms with his veggies and now I’m blending the veggies and adding them to his supplement… not sure what else to do… feel like a total failure… I appreciate the response. I just bought some things for the liver and electrolytes from Bug-De-Lite and hoping it will help while I wait for the vet. Thanks again.

I believe that sometimes things happen that are out of our control. You are not a failure, remember that. You have done the best you knew how and that is what counts.

I was so sorry to hear about your dragon - reading the update broke my heart - I know that feeling of the empty tank thing it hurts the heart - again I am so sorry

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
