Hi everyone! I'm new here sort of... Anyways this has been her for 3 days now. What is it? It's this weird red oval on my bearded dragons chin it doesn't seem to hurt her when you touch it there's no loose bugs in her tank or anything so is it something I need to worry about? (to be honest with y'all we just don't have the money right now to take her to the vet because it's expensive taking a reptile to the vet.) she's 1 year old btw

She tank surfs every day every other week she's in a 40 gallon tank were making a 70 gallon one which should be done tomorrow actually she has uvb bulbs 10.0 the basking temp is 90-100 normally 95 the cool side is 81-87 I have little digital thermometer stick ons I used to use a probe but it kept falling off my bet said they were fine to use though

Your not getting surface temps w/ the stick on you want actual basking temps-- place the probe where she sits to bask wait 10 min get temp it does not need to stay there -- your uvb is a coil or tube? For a 70 gallon tank you want a long tube fixture a T 5 bulb and get a good fixture like a Zoo Med or a Arcadia pro T 5 or a sunblaster nano tech

Ok please go here look on this site for a uvb www.pangeareptile.com they are out of stock for the pro T 5 but they have the zoo Med you want a 24" for a 40+ gallon tank you also need to order the 22" reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb it comes w/ a 5.0 keep it for a back up- or a sunblaster nano tech this comes w/ the 6400 bulb-- SunBlaster NanoTech T5 HO - Fluorescent Fixture with 6400K Lamp you want the 2 ft one- please get this ordered ASAP- your dragon is not getting any uvb or very little- this could be a good reason for all the glass surfing along w/ incorrect basking temps

BTW, the chin area is normal, many dragons have a somewhat indented scale there . It's not from glass surfing, any trauma from that would be scraped raw, kind of bloody and scabby. So, nothing to worry about as far as that goes. :)

My guess is that the lighter color showing is due to thinner scale in that area which is showing more skin/blood vessels underneath than the surrounding area.

I think that you're seeing more than what is there. If you look all over their bodies very closely every week you will see something that it is very slightly different in any given place that is of no concern. Same with our own bodies. Can you post a pic of the snout from the side view ?

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
