Hi! I’m a new beardie momma and my baby chonks has been acting sleepy since Sunday when I returned home from sleeping over my friend’s. Before I left I fed him Saturday around 10:30-11 am and I cleaned his tank out. I made the mistake of using a little bit of glass cleaner to clean the glass, but I let it air out. I didn’t think much of it when I did that but now that he’s acting sleep. I am a bit concerned that I caused him harm.

He ate on Sunday and he was eager to eat his crickets per usual but in between me grabbing crickets and giving them to him, he’d go back to sleep it seems right where he’s eating. I know that it’s way too early for him to be going through brumation. He also seems to be pooping just fine since I had to clean up poop again on Sunday, and he pooped on my blanket Today. Even today, once his eyes are open he’s all normal and eating his crickets as savagely as ever. But then I turn to grab more and he’s back in his deep slumber. If I move him he opens his eyes for a second or if he hears something he hasn’t before like a car beeping or me moving the crickets to the tote he’s like all alert but then he goes right back into deep slumber. He does move about on his own but it’s less frequent

Some other changes that were made that i should mention is that I got a new bulb since my last one died. This one isn’t a orange light like I’m last one it’s more of a white light. I’m not sure if that could of caused a change in him as well. Since I’m not sure if it caused a change, I switched it to two smaller ones that I had from when I had first got him.

This is just unlike him, of course I’m considering it being due to the change in weather. But he was fine on Friday. I’m hoping to schedule a vet appointment for him because I lost my last bear due from impaction and I don’t want to lose him too.

Sincerely, A Concerned Beardie Momma

4 month olds do not brumate so lets go over the basking temps and your UVB -- your basking light should be a CLEAR bright white bulb example a Exo Terra Intense bulb NO off white or colored bulbs please -- it needs to keep temps 105-110 surface temp that temp needs to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer like a Zoo Med --- both the bulb and the probe can be found at Petsmart --- next the UVB it needs to be a long tube fixture like a Zoo Med 24" for a 40 + gallon tank --- this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb keep it for a back up this bulb has different placement and distance from the bulb you need for a 40 gallon + tank you will need a 22" Reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb ---- this you will probably not find at Petsmart these fixtures are usually needing to be ordered -- I have websites for the fixtures that you can order from -- there are 3 different ones that are really good --- please let me know what your using

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
