Hello,

Oh that is likely correct, he might not come out of anesthesia.
Maybe the antibiotics will really help out. He definitely has spunk so that's great to hear he is at least eating & taking in
fluids. I hope he gets better.
Sometimes windier conditions can affect humidity. That is pretty low! You could add a moist paper towel in for some
moisture if needed, but I would't add a water bowl inside of his tank. You could consider a humidifier also, those are
pretty effective, too.

Just to comment on the windy conditions, it definitely will drop the humidity. I live in the same area, so you are referring to the Santa Ana winds which are extremely dry high desert winds that blow 2-3 times a year from the east (typically winds in SoCal come from the coastal directions). I am surprised as low as 10%, but you do live in an area where you get the winds more than we do. Our humidity will often drop to 15-20%. We run humidifiers when the SA winds kick up and it still drops down to 25-30% indoors. The good news for that is it only lasts a few days or so and then things shift back to normal more.

Update on our little Mushu.

Currently he gets
.05 Ceftazidime antibiotic injected in his arm every 3 days. Switching arms each time.

.05 Meloxicam for pain and inflammation syringed daily

.05 Tramadol for pain syringed daily

We ran out of the Emeraid food but the Vet said we could use Flukers repta-boost and that it is just as good. It does require us to give him more of it but he eats most of it every day now.

We are giving him Pedialyte berry flavor but it has no sugar so the vet said it would be fine. The vet said not to dilute it. We mix his food supplement with it as well.

I am happy to report that we have seen a pretty noticeable improvement in him after 3 doses. We are on a 1 month test run and if there is any improvement the Vet wants to go with her original plan of 3 months of treatment.

The lump on the side of his face and the sore on his mouth has shrunk a lot and he is able to open his eye a little. I am going to attach pics. We realize he is still in bad shape and by no means out of the woods but after almost 2 months of watching him lose weight and get worse and worse it is an amazing feeling to see him improving. He is back to basking for long periods of time and doesn’t hide much. He still has moments were he seems miserable but he also is back to cuddling with my wife and not wanting to be put back in his enclosure after.

I have attached a pic of when we first started his new treatment and of today 9 days later

Just a pic for comparison before he got the lump plus I really find this pic funny. He used to always lay in some really strange positions.

He is looking better, it seems that this treatment is working! and this pic is one of those where you can't fathom how that would be comfortable.

Yes it does really look uncomfortable but he has always been like this. I mean who sleeps on top of roller skates in a closet with their head face up against the wall holding most of his weight? Lol

Hello,

He is looking much better, his colors are more even, too. They can definitely sleep in some very odd positions.
How is the humidity doing now?
How long is he supposed to be on the medications for? At least the treatment is helping him out so quickly now!
Keep us posted on his progress.

The humidity is good. I was able to stabilize it pretty quickly. He is on a 1 month trial to see if there is any improvement then if there is there will be 2 months more of shots.

Hello,

Poor thing, that is a lot of medication so hopefully he will be ok with that. I would recommend using a probiotic
for him to help keep his system balanced out.
Keep us posted on him.

It is a lot but as long as he shows improvement and continues to have good days hopefully more then bad days then I think it’s worth it. Here is a pic of shot day. He gets all of this every day except the orange needle. That is every 3 rd day. Plus he never gets All of the water in the bigger syringes. I just like to have extra ready because a lot gets spilled and when we are done and he has swallowed everything I like to rinse his lips off some because on the bad side the food will sometimes sit there and get flakey if I don’t

Hello,

That is quite a lay out there! It is quite difficult to get extra fluids into them sometimes. I'm sure a lot does spill or run
down his chin. You are very organized. I hope he is feeling better soon, bless him. Go slow with him & hopefully his
appetite will pick back up!

Had a little time so I thought I would just give a short update.

The lump or part of the lump that had started bulging out on his left side into his mouth has receded almost all the way and the lump on his head has gotten smaller as far as we can tell. His left eye is also to a point he can almost open it all the way

I say as far as we can tell because I can’t tell if it has just grown more inside his mouth but it doesn’t look like it. His overall health seems better. He is eating and drinking almost if not more sometimes then prescribed. He is alert more then he was but still not as much as he was before this started.

One strange thing that happens is when we give him his shot. It doesn’t seem to hurt or bother him when the needle goes in and out but about 15-30 seconds after we give him his shot he starts kind of freaking out and trying to scratch at his head. We figured out to start itching it right away for him and that helps but then another min or two goes by and he becomes the energizer lizard. He will move all around his pin or the living room and wants to lick everything. That goes on for a good 15-20 min and then he just wants to bask in his enclosure. I am hoping that it’s a sign that the medicine is doing something to the lump on his head and that’s why he starts trying to itch it but I realize that could just be wishful thinking.

Hello everyone. It’s been a while since I posted an update. Mushu is still hanging in there. He has had more improvement and tomorrow or Monday I am going to try to take him in to the vet since his month of shots has come to an end. He is much stronger now and the lump on his left side by his mouth seems to be gone. The lump on his head seems to have shrunk some and it has become very soft. Before it pretty much solid and kind of hard. Not sure if that is good or bad but I am hoping it’s good.

He is more active now and He is able to open his left eye about 1/2 way. I don’t think he can see out of that eye anymore and when he is out of his enclosure if he tries to run quickly he has trouble and falls over almost like his head is to heavy and throws him off balance or maybe since his left eye seems to not work it is throwing his depth perception off. Hopefully the vet will be able to tell us more.

Oh and he pooped again which is good. It was a dark greenish color but it wasn’t runny and it looked like it should I think.

Can anyone tell me if this article about Beardies closing there eyes when being stroked is true? A quick summary is that they close their eyes because they don’t like it.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
