My Dragon Loves Her…Bush?

I’m not sure if this is normal but it seems very specific so I’m going to ask!

My bearded dragon loves to go outside so I take her outside everyday. But after an hour or less, she walks to the same bush. The first time she went there was about month or two ago and she dug a hole underneath it. It was difficult for me to get her out of it so now, I always stop her before she goes under. Whenever I stop her, she gets grumpy so I take her inside. She eats regularly and runs around my house afterwards.

Today she didn’t eat after I stopped her from going to the bush, and instead chose to snuggle underneath my couch. After some time, I tried to bribe her with a blueberry (her favorite) to come out so I don’t have to climb under where it is tight. She kept getting further away from me and closed her eye when I offered.

Finally, if I pick up my bearded dragon, sometimes she’ll puff. And not her beard but like a puff sound. It’s usually once or twice and fairly quiet. It sounds like a low and quick exhale with an odd ring to it. I’ve never heard it before until recently.

That is all of the behavioral things I’ve noticed out of the blue. Some other things I’ve noticed I can imagine being regular but I’m not so sure about these. What are you’re thoughts?

As far as the digging, it sounds fairly normal. Bearded dragons do dig and sometimes burrrow in the wild. How is she feeling otherwise? Does she still eat normally? I've heard of odd sounds coming from beardies' throats when they have a URI (upper respiratory infection) but it is usually accompanied by other symptoms as well. If you notice other issues like lethargy, lack of appetite, or things like discharge, abnormal breathing patterns, etc., then could be something. Otherwise, could be just one of those things. I've read other forum posts of people reporting an occasional puff like sound from their beardie. Since you said she is eating regularly and running around the house, probably no reason to worry.

For breathing, after running around a lot she might take deep breaths and then small and then big. I’m pretty sure that’s normal because it’s what we do too?

Sounds like she is doing ok! Probably wouldn't worry unless you see any other concerning symptoms

Sometimes her poop schedule is everywhere and won’t poop for sometime. Other than that, I think everything is going normally.

Sounds like she is doing ok! Probably wouldn't worry unless you see any other concerning symptoms

Update, today when I took her outside she didn’t move and when it got chilly, I brought her back inside. As soon as I set her down, she laid down and when I put her in her tank she laid right in that spot. She’s also dark colors?

Darker colors could be because of the cooler temps when you took her outside. As far as possible constipation, what's her diet like? If you think she is constipated, you could try giving her some unsweetened apple sauce, baby food squash or canned pumpkin without any spices.

It might be constipation. She loves blueberries so that’s the only way I get her to eat greens but since its sugary and she’s smart, most of the time she doesn’t eat the greens (Collard greens) and I gotta limit the sugar. Sometimes she’ll eat carrots or dried bugs/veggies. This is the part I hate most, but mealworms is her main diet. I know it’s bad but my parents don’t want dubias because they’re roaches and the other things I’ve tried she’s lost interest in. I’ve kept track of how many she eats And I feed her them usually every other day. I give her regular baths which helps with her poop but she hasn’t in a while.

Got some baby food. Left is butternut squash and the other is natural apple. The Apple has more sugar than the squash so I’m thinking of mainly using the squash. Both don’t have added sugars.

I tried both and she ate both so if I need to, it won’t be a problem using it.

I'm sorry to hear that your parents won't let you get dubias. Mealworms can be really tough for beardies to digest and can cause intestinal blockages known as impaction sometimes. They are fine as a small part of an otherwise varied diet, but don't make a good staple feeder. Have you asked if your parents would be ok with superworms or black soldier fly larvae? Superworms are very similar to mealworms but easier to digest. Did the baby food help with the constipation?

I’ve tried super worms but she lost interest, I can try again though. She hasn’t pooped yet but will probably soon. The baby food has some calcium in it and since she likes it, I’m trying to get her calcium up.
