Hi! Me & my partner have a Beardi Juvenile (I think) she is 5 months old. We got her about a month ago.
So 26 okt she started to behave weird, she didn't eat as much and were overall not as active. She also had trouble with pooping, so we gave her a bath twice that day, but she didn't poop. The next day she had verry loose poop in her tank in the morning, so at least she had pooped. So under the day it was the same with her behavior and wasn't as active, she had 3 baths that day cause she didn't poop and didn't eat anything. We gave her baby food with plum and pear a small amount to get her bowel movement going, she pooped that evening and with it came blood. Under bath time she drank a lot of water to.

Yesterday we changed her enclosure from sand to ceramic tiles and cut down on her decor. We also removed a metal piece from the tank so she would get more of the lightning.

Today, she is still having some problem with pooping, it only comes out pee most of the time and with it comes blood but not much. She is more active and she eats more. We give her baths, we think that she might was on the way to get MBD but are not sure, have not contacted any veterinary. Anyone that might know if it was on the way to MBD or not? If her behavior is more like aftermath of the bad?

She eats now so she gets her calcium and vitamins.

Please tell us what your feeding as far insects? they should not be bigger than the space between her eyes length wise --- basking temps and how are you taking them? NO stick ons please they are inaccurate digital probe thermometers work the best -- and UVB are you using a coil or a long tube fixture and where in the tank is it if its a long tube fixture brand and bulb please top of screen or inside the tank

We are feeding her right now with Dubia Roaches Medium size, her basking temp is about 39°C/102°F, I measure the temp with a infrared temperature gun. UVB is coil, we use 3 UVB coil lamps in a Exo Terra Compact Top. The Top lays on top of the tank, there's no glass between.

Please get rid of all the coils --- they are inadequate for UVB -- please replace w/ a 24" fixture for a 40 + gallon tank --
either a Arcadia Pro T 5 w/a Arcadia 12% bulb --- or a Zoo Med w/ a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 or a Sunblaster Nano w/ the bulb it comes w/ -- do this ASAP-- I would recommend you get a digital probe thermometer Zoo Med sells them and what kind of basking bulb are you using it must be a bright white bulb no colored please

We have Exo Terra Reptile UVB 150 25W coil lamps 3 of them, we haven't read that there is any problem with them except that there was years ago. The basking lamp is from Komodo, bright white bulb with both heat and UVB.

Bearded Dragons require full spectrum lighting for 12-14 hours a day. Reptisun 10.0 or Arcadia 12% tubes are known to provide some of the best full UVB for your dragons. The coils or compacts of the same brand aren't recommended, as they have shown to cause eye problems and reduction of appetite. The Reptiglo brand is also not recommended, tube, coil or compact, as it has been associated with causing eye problems, lethargy and not eating. These fluorescent bulbs should stretch the length of your Beardies enclosure and your B.D. should be able to come within 6-8 inches of the light. The UVB should be mounted inside the tank to allow your dragon 100% of the UVB. On top of the tank can filter out up to 50% of the UVB rays your dragon needs. Mercury vapour bulbs are also a good heat & UVB source, but to allow your dragon full use of the UVB it is best to not use the mesh tank tops. Mounting them on a lampstand with a dome without using a top will allow full use of the UVB. Having the correct type of UVB light is also important to help their bones develop strong and healthy.

The best UVB light is a ReptiSun 10.0 fluorescent tube HO (Or Arcardia 12% in the UK). Compact or coil bulbs do not emit the proper amount of UVB light for a bearded dragon, and should not be used. Other brands, such as the Zilla Desert Series and ReptiGlo have been known to cause eye problems and other health issues with bearded dragons, and should be avoided. The reason that some UVB lights (Zilla, ReptiGlo, coils/compacts, ect.) are considered dangerous is because the wavelength of UVB that they emit is shorter and more intense than the wavelength of the "safe" lights (ReptiSun, Arcadia). UVB lights should be replaced every 6 months. The T5’s are a strong bulb and only need to be replaced once a year – the T 8 every 6 months--- where as the T 8 are not as strong—they need to be placed inside the tank the T 5 10.0 bulb approx 12-15 inches from basking spot – the T 8 approx 6-8 inches directly over the basking spot —the cover needs to be off the bulb for full effect of the UVB rays--

The Reptisun 26w version of the UVB150 is similar in output to a T8 tube when using a reflector. The beam isn't as wide (depending on the length of the tube) but the output strength is very similar. If it was sitting about 6-8'' above the main basking area then it was likely providing adequate UVB. It's the lower wattage (13w) versions that cause concern since they aren't strong enough to provide adequate UVB at a safe distance.
All I can say is that is more than likely the issue for the blood your getting --- the UVB is crucial to a healthy dragon and it must be a good one ---

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
