Hey y’all, I was holding my beardie and he got his ring finger claw stuck in my ring and tugged the whole nail out of his toe. The quick is still there but the whole claw I think came out. I’ve got him with some Neosporin and I currently have him on carpet but I’m about to switch him over to rabbit food (pellets) instead because I just learned carpets hold lots of bacterias and yucky things. Will this claw grow back or will his little quick just have to heal over?

I had him with me at my grandmother’s funeral, this is where I got this picture. His right hand is where the claw is missing. There’s less blood now and it seems to be starting to heal but I just want to know whether the claw will come back or not. I know his toe wouldn’t grow back if it itself came off, but this is just the nail.

Thanks in advance. <3

Hello,

Poor little one, that most likely hurt! He should be ok, but definitely keep some antibiotic
ointment on that for awhile. If the entire nail came out & the nail bed was damaged then
his nail probably wont grow back.
Just keep it cleaned daily & you can put the ointment on it one or two times, daily.
Do you have a solid or loose particulate? Does it seem to be bothering him at all?

Please no rabbit pellets---- get some textured NON adhesive shelf liner from your local home improvement store --- cut to the size of the tank and clean w/ vinegar/ water 50/50-- those pellets are going to harbor bacteria like the carpet

He doesn’t seem bothered by it at all anymore, he didn’t like me touching it day 1 when I was trying to keep the ointment on, but now he doesn’t seem to care. I haven’t messed with it much since then except to keep the stuff on him. I just switched him to a loose substrate. I found a compressed wood for birds but I’m probably gonna switch it again in the near future. I keep hearing so many different things, I’m not sure what to use at this point.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
