HELP! Bearded Dragon Ill!

Hey everyone,

My name is David and I have owned this Beardie for about 11 years now. She’s always been in great health for those 11 years but recently she’s been acting very ill.

It started abound 5 days ago, she was shedding and very grumpy. I did notice she was doing more eye bulging than usual so that caught my attention. A few days later, when I turned on her terrarium she was almost unresponsive, barely moving and her eyes were very squinty. I realized her eyes were white colored not like her usual brown color so I called up my local beardie vet and took her in.

The Doctor ran tests and told me she is healthy overall but did have mucus in her mouth and eyes so they prescribed her two doses of medicine.

1. Eye and nostril droplets (Gentocin Ophthalmic Solution)
2. Flagyl Susp (Chk) 100 mg

Today is the second day, she’s had 2 doses of each but she seems worse. Her eyes barely move when touched and she isn’t moving at all, her head is the only part of her body that seems to be stable and moving. Once in a while she’ll lick her lips at the medicine.

If anyone has any information or advice on what else I can do please help! I’ve never seen her ill before and I feel so helpless.

We need to go over the lighting in the tank and basking temps-- what are you using for UVB brand and bulb ? coil or tube ? temps what are they and how are you taking them? this is always asked but considering how old she is its probably not the case but we need to be sure --- I am going to flag this to Tracie our vet tech mod --- how much of the meds are you giving ?

She is in a 40 gallon terrarium with a 150 basking bulb and a 10.0 uvb Reptisun tube. I have a thermostat in the tank reading about 70 degrees.



I am giving her one drop in both eyes and both nostrils a day to help with the mucus
And 10 ml of the flavored medicine which is supposed to help with any parasites if she were to have any.

Sorry your 11 year old is having some trouble. Did they do a blood test on her?
If so, please post them here if you can, so we can see & review them. Did they mention
anemia or a respiratory infection? Are her gums pale as well?
The flagyl suspension is for parasites, so I assume that they did a fecal on her too?
The Reptisun 10 is a T8 or a T5 tube bulb?
Since she is not doing well, keep her a little warmer overnight, around 75-80 to help
boost her immune system right now. Have you been able to get any food into her?
