Question for those of you who use the Philips flood light bulbs to heat your enclosures. I bought some but before I use them I had a question. In my tegu's cage I have a giant piece of cork bark for him to climb on and I'm worried about possible fire hazard since I'm told these bulbs run hot. Anyone use this combo or thoughts on my concern? Below is a quick photo of the setup.

I bought the Philips PAR38 90watt bulbs.
Any comments welcomed.

I've used those before. They are good bulbs (as are the GE equivalent). It's tougher to find the 90w versions now, unfortunately. They get hot, but not dangerously so. I wouldn't worry about the cork at all, especially if you monitor the surface temp. Cork can handle temps of up to several hundred degrees while the basking temps will need to be well below that.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
