Is it normal for beardies to change colours that much during a shed? The orange patch is the new skin. Mouth and beard too turned orange-ish. Is that because of the veggies full of beta carotene?

Our boy is a bright orange too. When he is getting ready to shed, he turns almost white! You can tell when the shed is about to come off when he starts looking more orange again, but dull. After the area sheds it is back to the bright orange again.
