What are these clips for?

Bought a reptihabitat for a beardie I'm getting and for the life of me, I can't figure these clips out. They fall through when I put them into the slots.

They are to block off the place where cords can go into the cage. I just can't seem to figure them out, they are really loose.
Guess it doesn't really matter, the space is small enough nothing can escape beyond a cricket and they'll never be able to climb up there.

Strange. They look like they would serve more of a function than that, but maybe not. I haven't seen clips like that in person. Perhaps someone else can chime in if they have.
