22 Mar RAINAGEDDON UPDATE

Seems like most of NSW is underwater, national disaster unfolding in most of Greater Sydney, Gosford area, along all the coastal rivers, and even in the outback , all the rivers are bursting their banks and levees , it's huge rain event ( largest since 1950s here ) , and worse in living memory in Sydney.
BOM are calling this a 1 in a 100 year flood event for NSW & SE QLD.

Same the NT (very strong monsoon this year) , there are waterfalls on Uluru ( Aye's Rock )
https://videos.dailymail.co.uk/video/mol/2021/03/21/3832640843544772283/640x360_MP4_3832640843544772283.mp4
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-2381038/Video-Water-falls-Uluru-torrential-rain-NT.html
, and more rain is coming from very strong monsoonal depression that's causing massive flooding the NT , Kimberley Region and Arhem Land.

Top the rains with a mouse plague , and now a spider plague , one can be forgiven for letting their imagination run away .
And when rainbomb is finished , and the sun and warm weather returns to the flooded area, in a few weeks there will be a mozzie plague and a fly plague ( all those drowned animals will be perfect for flies ).

This sumarises the situation
screenshot-146.png

the kookaburras and magpies are so full of mice they are too heavy to fly and are now walking about ( or sitting on dry porches waiting for the rainbomb to go away and for the spiders to eat the rest of the mice)
screenshot-147.png

screenshot-148.png

The mice have eaten the bibles too .
Gonna be in trouble if the mice eat all the dunnypaper !!!
Some people are having to evict sharks and stingrays from their homes and sheds and gardens ( at least here in NSW we don't have to worry about esterine crocodiles ( yet.... ).

Fortunately because we've done all the right things here, we don't have any community transmission of covid19 to worry about here in NSW or NT or QLD , or elsewhere in Australia.

Plus lots of people are finding snakes coming into their homes trying to find dry ground too.

Now spiders are out in plaque numbers in the flooded ares …. sends shivers down ya back just thinking about it - it's the stuff of nightmares and horror movies .

https://7news.com.au/weather/sydney-weather/nsw-floods-bring-out-hundreds-of-spiders-fleeing-to-dry-ground-c-2405988
then maybe the zillions of spiders who have lost their nice snug holes in the ground & under peoples' houses will eat the mice , then the dragons, skinks, goannas & frogs & geckos will eat the spiders & all will be well if a bit boggy.

23 MARCH RAINAGGENDEN UPDATE.

Now there are reports ( and warnings ) escaped esterine crocodiles and allegators to worry about for folks living near Gosford and on the Hunter River , as well as funnel webs, mouse spiders, snakes , bull sharks, hammer heads, tiger sharks, ( moving into flooded rivers looking for fish who are trying to escape silt laden waters pouring out the mouths of rivers, and dead animals as they float down , huge sting rays, bullrouts and other nasty critters in the floodwaters.

A frightening picture shows alligators at a New South Wales zoo (Cessnock) dangerously close to swimming out of their enclosures in rising floodwaters.

The photo shared by Hunter Valley Zoo on Monday shows one alligator in the foreground seemingly waiting for the water to rise above the fence as the rest of the habitat turns into a lake.

The low has moved south , is now off the Illawarra Coast.

The Darling Downs are now like an vast sea. Moree is under evacuation orders.

SE QLD has been drenched with near 700mm rain in the last 72hrs. North Coast NSW has received over 1m of rain since Saturday.

24 March Update.

Hunter Valley / Lake Macquarie and areas north - The sun broke through the clouds today and we had a lovely hot summerlike day all day ( nudging 30 degC all day with very steamy conditions.
Rain will be back.
Phone calls from some of my fishing mates were not flash - the Hunter and Hawksbury Rivers are unfishable - choked with all manner of floating flood debris ( whole trees , huge branches , bits of timber , dead animals ) and it's built up along the foreshore at Kooragang Is , north and south arms of the Hunter River , Stockton, Carrington basin and Throsby Creek, on the harbour side of Nobbys Wall , and is accumulating on the Horse Shoe ( wave trap ) beaches and on local beaches.
Very dangerous having to walk on top of loose tree branches , and too dangerous to put a boat in the water ( too many submerged very large hard objects ) , so fishing here for jewfish is only for the foolhardy ( even though the big seas have abated back to about 2m ).
So I'll be leaving my cliff gaff and big snapper & jewy rods and reels under the shed rafters , at least for a few weeks , would have good to get to the harbour as the start of the floods arrived .

The Rainbomb is not clobbering the far south coast of NSW , the Snowys , eastern Victoria and Tasmania , flooding large areas of these.

Covid Update : NSW is moving to CovidNORMAL from Friday

Masks to go, dancing returns as restrictions lift across NSW
US sinks to new low in rankings of world's democracies
AA moves race just weeks out from champs

Masks will not be mandatory on public transport from next Monday, while restrictions on weddings, funerals and dancing will also be lifted in a major easing of coronavirus restrictions across NSW.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Wednesday that it was the right time to ease restrictions, announcing that nightclubs will also reopen.

Caps on sporting events, entertainment venues and home visitors will be abolished, as will restrictions on singing, including at places of worship, as the new rules take effect on Monday, March 29.

It comes as NSW recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday night. Three new cases were acquired overseas, and one previously reported case was excluded following further investigation.
<< been 1 week since NSW recorded it's last local covid transmission >>

All venues will move to a one-person per two square metre rule, Ms Berejiklian said, though those restrictions will only apply once more than 25 people are inside.

Ms Berejiklian also revealed that 100 per cent of NSW hotel quarantine workers had received at least their first coronavirus vaccination. Families of quarantine workers are now also being vaccinated.

"With no community transmission and our quarantine and frontline workers now receiving their second vaccinations, the timing is right to further ease restrictions across the state," Ms Berejiklian said.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet described the easing of restrictions as a "stride in the right direction".

"We are pretty much back to normal and that's a great thing for the people of our state," he said.

"This is an amazing achievement from where we were just last year...so to have the freedoms and the options we have is a testament to the people of our state."

While face masks will not be mandatory on public transport from Monday, they are "strongly recommended," NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said.

"We are aiming to ease these restrictions with the knowledge that we don't have any community transmission at this time," Dr Chant said.

[The easing of restrictions comes just over a week after NSW recorded its first local case of coronavirus in more than a month when a hotel worker contracted the virus.

"We are still in the final throes of following up the incursion event," Dr Chant said, adding that no close contacts had tested positive. The hotel worker had received their first vaccination days before they tested positive.

While the cap on the number of visitors allowed into a home has been abolished, a COVID-19 safety plan is required if more than 100 people are visiting. Two hundred people will also be allowed for personal outdoor gatherings./

Flood emergency is still unfolding in all of northern NSW and the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, the Hawksbury River , Sydney, Illawarra, and the tablelands , and Southern Coast. Rivers are still rising in many area despite the break from the rain today , in some places will continue rising for another week or even more.
Many farms and towns are completely cutoff and relying on airlifts and resupply by ADF all terrain heavy vehicle, and boats.

26 March UPDATE.

RAINAGEDDEN continues in Victoria and Tasmania. Many townships in Qld & NSW are still cutoff ,and now beaches near river mouths and in and around Brisbane , Gold Coast , Sydney, Newcastle , Central coast have been closed because of the risk of sewerage being in the water ( overwhelmed sewerage treatment plants , some have been completely flooded ) and because of dangerous submerged and floating debris in the surface , as well as sharks .

Qld has reported a case of community transmission of B117 strain in Brisbane .
Case of B117 in Brisbane ( unknown source - but contact tracers are on the job and it's suspected this case is linked to the hospital quarantine leakage that 2 weeks ago ).
The concern is this person has been circulating widely in SEQLD / Brisbane while infecious but asymptomatic.

27 March UPDATE

Revision 28 March
It has come to light today that the young man WAS in ISO @ home where he shares w/ 5 others, and he DID NOT throw a covidPARTY as reported widely yesterday.

Cluster grows
The men are the latest cases in a cluster that also includes a doctor from the Princess Alexandra Hospital and two returned travellers, who tested positive earlier this month to the highly transmissible B117 UK variant.

Thousands of people came forward to be tested on Saturday, forming long queues at some clinics in Brisbane. That followed a tripling of tests on Friday, when 6,881 were carried out.

Masks have not been mandated yet, though health authorities are advising people to wear them in crowded places in Brisbane and Moreton Bay.

Not many masks were seen in the crowd as thousands of people arrived at Suncorp Stadium for a Broncos match on Saturday evening.
Hours earlier, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) imposed an immediate mandatory requirement for patrons to wear masks.

"In this fast-changing environment and in the interest of being proactive, we wish to advise that masks are now mandatory," QPAC tweeted.

Border restrictions
After the Stafford man tested positive on Thursday, other states rushed to impose new restrictions on people who had recently been in Brisbane and Moreton Bay.

Interstate travellers are advised to check for updates on state websites.

Queensland currently has 71 active cases, with the majority in hotel quarantine.

Five or six cases have been reported in quarantine each day for the past fortnight, pushing hospital capacity close to the peak of the pandemic, said Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

"That is not to say our hospitals cannot cope — they will be able to cope — but [we are seeing a] large influx and high rate of returned travellers being positive," said Ms Palaszczuk.

For that reason, the Premier has asked the Prime Minister to halve the number of international arrivals to Queensland for the next two weeks so the state can focus on contact tracing.

Queensland currently accepts 1,300 international returnees each week.
<< and is receiving infected FIFO workers from PNG where positivity is extremely high and covid is out of control ,especially to northern airports at Cairns, Townsville and Mackay , and who acct for near 1/2 the cases in Qld hospital suffering covid

Interstate responses
Queensland COVID-19 case linked to UK variant triggers alerts for interstate travellers
State governments (CHOs) have ordered recent arrivals from the affected area in QLD to immediately self-isolate and get tested.

Anyone in Victoria who had been in Brisbane or the neighbouring Moreton Bay region since March 12 and anyone in South Australia or the ACT who had visited the areas since March 20.

NSW, Tasmania and Western Australia also updated their advice to visitors and travellers but did not impose an order to self-isolate.

People who travelled the Northern Territory from Queensland since March 20 and visited any locations must get tested within 72 hours and isolate until a negative test is confirmed.

Victoria's DHHS also shifted the Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council areas, covering some 1.7 million people, to orange on the traffic-light system, meaning the same restrictions apply to new arrivals, with an exception for "transit to the airport".

Similar restrictions are in place for anyone in SA and the ACT who has visited the two regions since March 20, with the added requirement to get tested again on day 5 and day 13 in SA.

In NSW, Western Australia and Tasmania, only those who crossed paths with the infected patient at one of 11 publicly identified exposure sites must self-isolate and get tested.

Starting from 12.01am on Saturday, anyone arriving in NSW who has visited Brisbane or the Moreton Bay region in the past fortnight must fill out a passenger declaration form, which includes confirmation of whether or not they have visited any of the sites.

NSW Health said anyone who had been at a venue of high concern should not enter NSW, with those already in the state directed to self-isolate and call NSW Health on 1800 943 553.

Differing entry requirements for new arrivals apply across different states.

The infections were caused by the more contagious B117 coronavirus variant, commonly referred to as the UK variant, authorities said.

Queensland Health issued a public health alert for 11 locations across Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region, requiring customers who crossed paths with the case to get tested immediately.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/queensland-covid-19-case-linked-to-uk-variant-triggers-alerts-for-travellers/ar-BB1f0wdT?ocid=msedgdhp

State borders remain open for now.

News tonight indicates some restrictions are likely to be reimposed and another circuit breaker hard lockdown is on the cards to crush this B117 cluster fast and hard.

WA response
All arrivals from Queensland into WA must get tested for coronavirus and self-quarantine for 14 days
Those arriving into Western Australia from Queensland from Saturday must be tested for COVID-19 and self-quarantine for 14 days, the WA government has announced.

<< latests evidence is that with B117 strain, 14 days quarantine is NOT SUFFICIENT.
b117-needs-at-least-21d-qtine.png

This is why the cluster in Brisbane escaped hotel quarantine. Have to wonder if the CHOs are staying abreast of the latest science wrt covid19 variants.

Earlier on Saturday, arrivals were told they only had to self-quarantine until they returned a negative result, but that advice has since been updated.

"Due to updated health advice a full 14-day period of self-quarantine is now required," Premier Mark McGowan announced in a Facebook post just after 6:00pm local time.

"These new directions also apply to those people who arrived from Queensland earlier today.

"The situation continues to be monitored regularly and the state government will not hesitate to reintroduce the hard border with QLD if the health advice recommends that course of action.”

The new directive from the WA Government is effective immediately.

The move is in response to Queensland recording a second case of COVID-19 community transmission in Brisbane on Saturday.

It was then later revealed the man held a party for 25 people at his home after being instructed to isolate while he waited for his test results.

Day 11 test

The Premier said arrivals must also present for a COVID-19 test on day 11.

They will also undergo health screening and a temperature check at Perth airport, and must be prepared to take a COVID-19 test at the airport if required.

A G2G Pass declaration is also mandatory.

'Very fluid' situation': Health Minister
Earlier on Saturday, WA Health Minister Roger Cook emphasised the new border arrangements were "interim".

"As we see more information come to hand, we will take the necessary steps to protect the people of Western Australia," he said.

The Health Minister said about 1,000 people arrived from Queensland each day, on average, but WA Health said only a few hundred were due to arrive on Saturday.

Only one person in WA is known to have visited the potential exposure sites in Brisbane.

Two COVID-19 clinics have been set up at Perth Airport, but Mr Cook said travellers were also able to visit clinics at Perth's major hospitals.

"We do ask people to be patient, we do ask them to be understanding as they test our systems, but obviously this is an important step we need to take to ensure we keep the people of Western Australia safe."

On Saturday afternoon, Mr Cook said the situation was "very fluid".

"This is a difficult situation but it's one that the Queensland authorities are very active on," he said.

Mr Cook earlier warned any West Australians heading to Queensland for Easter should be cautious, as their travel plans may be disrupted, warning that WA's hard border could be reinstated "immediately" if required.

The Health Minister also confirmed WA would receive around 80,000 doses of the Melbourne-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine within days.

He said GPs should have the vaccine ready to administer by Monday or Tuesday.

29 MAR UPDATE

Greater Brisbane has been ordered into a Hard Lockdown for 3 days at least as the B117 cluster that leaked from a major Brisbane hospital has growth overnight 2x to 8 known local trasmissions , these include 2 local transmissions of UNKNOWN origin at this time.
Masks are mandated again in Greater Brisbane and movement social distancing restrictions are reset back to the highest setting for the duration of the lockdown and there are only 4 acceptable legal reasons for a Greater Brisbane resident to leave their home.

A triple whammy for Greater Brisbane & Qld who are still reeling from the major flooding and only just on weekend regained access to their flooded / destroyed / damaged homes and businesses and farms ,
along with the end of JobKeeper ( and over 100,000 workers instantly expected to become jobless (in Qld alone))
and now a growing PA Hospital B117 cluster with unknown spreaders still at loose and at a moment when tourist areas in QLD were hoping for an influx of cashed up eager to travel and spend interstate visiters and holiday makers over the Easter Break and April school term break these hopes have been scuttled by the B117 cluster in Brisbane.

One of infected is known to have travelled to Gladstone ( NQLD ) while on leave ( so hadn't been vaxed yet when went on leave ) so rest of QLD is now mandated masking , and move back to stage 3 social distancing ( restricted to visitors to homes ), schools are closed til the start of the next term, so kids in QLD start their break 4 days early ( guess they wont mind that if they have plenty to do @ home ).

Meanwhile overnight and today all AU states and territories have declared Greater Brisbane ( and all of QLD ) a covid hotspot and all except NSW have banned anyone who has been in QLD since Mar 5 to immediately self isolate and seek an urgent covid test , and to remain in isolate for at least 14 days ( THIS SHOULD BE 21 days for B117. )

Tasmania, SA, WA, NT, ACT, Victoria have all closed their state borders to Qlders , any who enter will be forced into mandatory quarantine at their own expense for at least 14 days.
NSW - QLD border remains open for now.

Meanwhile on the far north coast of NSW at Byron Bay , there is fear B117 is circulating in the area because 2 of the people from Brisbane infected with B117 visited Byron Bay while infectious before they were tested or notified as a result contact tracing.
https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/byron-bay-locations-placed-on-high-alert-for-signs-of-covid-19-after-infectious-visitors-from-brisbane-c-2462838

Meanwhile the situation in PNG is going from bad to worse , but the PNG essential front line medical workers vax rollout starts tomorrow in Pt Moresby .

30 MAR UPDATE.

Greater Brisbane local B117 infections have doubled again overnight.
The Brisbane Princess Alexandra Hospital has gone into lockdown.
The Mater Mothers’ Hospital at South Brisbane has sent home some staff after it was discovered a recent visitor is one of the confirmed B117 cases.

The MASK MANDATE has been extended to ALL OF QUEENSLAND , it's come to light another B117 case travelled to Gladstone and Bundaberg whilst unknowingly infectious and before contacted by QLD contact tracers and being tested.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/masks-are-mandatory-for-the-entire-state-of-queensland-for-the-very-first-time-here-s-what-you-need-to-know/ar-BB1f6ov8?ocid=msedgdhp

Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly declared Greater Brisbane a Commonwealth COVID-19 hotspot on this afternoon, saying it was "for the purposes of Commonwealth support" amid what has been called an "escalating" situation involving two separate infection chains of the highly infectious B117.

There are NOW 3 known B117 clusters :
> The PA Hospital Dr Cluster ( 8 cases + 2? ) ,
> A separate PA Hospital Nurse Cluster ( 8 cases , including 2 residential aged care contractors who work at a Tri-Care Nursing Home ) ,
> And the Byron Bay Cluster on the NSW Far North Coast (Byron Shire) , there is a B117 case in the Toowoomba Hospital on the state's Darling Downs that has been linked to the Byron Bay cluster.

At this point this OUTBREAK is doubling everyday and is looking very similar to the thirst days of the Greater Sydney ( Northern Beaches ) outbreak in December 2020.

CRAZYNESS , 10s of 1000s of people from all over NSW and other states will travel to attend this , I'm gobsmacked that NSW Health and NSW CHO have not ordered this cancelled as it is still not clear how much community B117 spread has occurred in the Byron Shire / and especially Byron Bay and suburbs , this event has real potential of becoming a SUPERSPREADER EVENT and throwing ALL of NSW into a hard lockdown AGAIN.

Madness at Sydney Fishmarkets as huge crowds rush to buy seafood in Easter lead up
( Really I understand not everyone has a large deep freezer ( vertical , chest or side by side ) , but how hard is it to buy some fresh fish or seafood and freeze it a month or two before Easter ? , we've got the king crab legs and some barramundi steaks and fillets thawing that I bought way back in November ).

Effects of Rainbomb
A picture is worth a thousand words .
1-APR-NSW-RAINBOMB-HAWKSBURY-NAPIEN-FLOOD-EFFECT-ON-COAST.png
'
Most beaches in NSW as far north as Fraser Is , and also in Victoria remain closed to surfing and swimming because of the large quantities of dangerous flood debris in the surf and on the beaches , and risk of the water being contaminated with raw sewerage from flooded / overwhelmed sewerage treatment plants and septic tanks in rural areas at the peak of the floods in Sydney , Brisbane, Newcastle , Central Coast and towns along all the coastal rivers and tidal lakes, dead wild life and farm animals who drowned on flooded farms are washing up too and are drawning in large bull sharks, hammerheads, tiger sharks and great white sharks to these flood effected beaches. river mouths, tidal lakes and harbours.

Much of the outback of NSW and Qld has reverted to a shallow brown inland sea

Sturt pushed out from here, “discovering” Cooper Creek. But he never found his inland sea. Little did he realise that he was camped in an inland sea of sorts (if he had only been there after a "rainbomb" or large Kimberley or NT tropical cyclone).
For the first time in 10 years, Lake Pinaroo in the far west of New South Wales is full after heavy rains drenched the desert region.

The lake is located about 100 kilometres west of Tibooburra and about 30 kilometres from Cameron Corner — where New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland intersect.

Wild Deserts project coordinator Reece Pedler, who lives near the lake at Fort Grey Homestead, said just under 100 millimetres of rain had been recorded there recently.

11 April update

Top of the news here - Catagory3 Cyclone Seroja is crossing the SW WA coast just south of Kalbarri and Gregory as I type .
11-apr-tc3-hits-Kalbarri-and-Geraldton.png

This is the same TC that devastated Timor Leste.
screenshot-179.png

https://www.caritas.org.au/news/latest-news/over-100-deaths-after-tropical-cyclone-seroja-and-torrential-rain-lead-to-flooding-and-landslides-in-timor-leste-and-indonesia/

Situation evolving in WA
Homes have been destroyed in the township of Kalbarri and national disaster is unfolding according to scattered reports from residents in and near Kalbarri & Murchison. The eye is 45 kilometres south southeast of Kalbarri and 80 kilometres north northwest of Geraldton , and will also clobber Geraldton as a Category3 .
Kalbarri a coast town 500km NNW of north of Perth and is a very popular get-away for Perth residents and grey nomads and interstate caravaners and campers ( who go there to fish, surf, and as base to explore inland and along the Kalbarri Creek ) .
screenshot-178.png

The town of Kalbarri
screenshot-177.png

Buildings and homes this far south are NOT commonly built to withstand severe tropical cyclones and images I've seen on the news are reminiscent of what happened when TC Tracy devastated Darwin. ( Eyewitness accounts are of entire streets have homes destroyed or deroofed or severely damaged in Kalbarri , similar is likely in Geraldton ).
No reports yet of serous casualties. Power is out in Kalbarri and Geraldton now due to the TC blowing trees down, and the situation is intensifying at Geraldton while Kalbarri is in The Eye now. 11:30pm Sydney Time.
120mm rain since 9am at Kalbarri.

Geraldton has now been hit and unclear how much damage has been caused .

Vax Rollout
PM has admitted Australia is not going to have every Australian who needs or wants to be vaccinated against cov19 and the new nastier strains P1, B117, B1350 etc by the target of Jan 2022.
Following a meeting of National Cabinet on Friday, the commonwealth and state governments agreed to release daily data reports on the progress of the vaccination rollout, responding to concerns about a lack of transparency and confusion among the states about vaccine supplies.

Sunday’s figures show that across Australia about 1.16m vaccinations have now been dispensed, with about half delivered by the commonwealth through the GP network and in aged and disability care, and the other half delivered through state vaccination hubs.

In the wake of a government revision to the vaccination program for under-50s based on an extremely rare blood-clot side effect linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine, the health minister, Greg Hunt, also moved to reassure Australians that the program was “safe and effective”.

“These vaccines are safe and effective and we simply follow the advice on administration of our medical experts. That has kept Australians safe and we will continue to provide those updates,” Hunt said.

“Our message is simple, please continue to get vaccinated, it’s safe, it’s effective, it can save your life and it can save the life of your friend, or your family, or your neighbour.”
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/morrison-admits-all-australians-may-not-be-vaccinated-by-end-of-year-due-to-many-uncertainties/ar-BB1fwkDT?ocid=msedgdhp

<< COMMENT : fortunately we have no local covid or covid strain local transmission in Australia at this time because we have premiers who let their health ministers and CHOs take the lead , and we have crushed the curve for the 1st and 2nd waves , and the outbreaks since then in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide ( all quarantine leaks ) and the larger majority of Australians have acted rationally and did what was needed to protect themselves and their communities. So it is not so much a matter urgency like elsewhere o/seas everywhere else expect Pacific Micronations and NZ.
My wife and I will be holding off for a while , and continuing soc iso at home and mask wearing for now , and so are no hurry to get vaccinated ( w/ AstraZeneca's vaccine , we'd prefer Pfizer's vaccine ) , if we needed to work and mix with strangers and workmates, that would be a different can of worms .

QLD has reported one local transmission of B117, fortunately the lady who was at the hens' party in Byron Bay has been strictly self-isolating and recovered at home and is not considered a risk of spread.
A Queensland woman has tested positive to coronavirus after attending a hen's party in Byron Bay.

But Queensland state premier Annastacia Palaszczuk took to Twitter on Sunday to announce the woman was no longer deemed 'infectious'.

'One case believed to be historic linked to Byron Bay cluster,' she wrote.

'Not a risk to the community and under investigation.'

Chief health officer Dr Jeanette Young said the case was linked to the second outbreak at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Brisbane, on March 28.

NZ has reported another quarantine hotel worker has become infected with covid19.
A 2nd quarantine worker from New Zealand has tested positive for Covid-19, further risking the trans-Tasman travel bubble due to open on April 19.

The employee from quarantine facility Grand Millennium Hotel, in Auckland CBD, tested positive to Covid-19 on Sunday.

Health officials do not believe the virus will continue to spread because the person has been self-isolating since they were identified as a close contact of a security guard who tested positive last week.

Several venues that were visited by the security guard have been put on alert, including a Bikanervala Bakery and cafe Bake and Beans in Mt Roskill, south of the city.
