Hi,

My bearded dragon is on baytril and loxicom for a RI.
He started coughing and shaking his head originally. Now he is wheezing too.
He is still eating and active, but irritated and balckbearding sometimes.

Hes been on the baytril for a week. When should I see signs of improvement? It's not worse but it's not better either.

Should I ask the vet to change antibiotics?

Anything I can do to help him at the moment? I've raised the temps and put a dehumidifier in.

Thanks.

What is the humidity? And what are you using for a UVB this is extremely important for improvement and the over all health of the dragon--- brand and bulb and where in the tank is it? Basking temps what are they and how are you taking them ? NO stick ons please

Humidity is always is the 30s. Right now it's 34.
He has a 12% arcadia t5 bulb. It is at the back on the roof.
Basking temp is 40c, warm side 32c and cool side 28c.
I have a small stand alone thermometer and hygrometer in with him. And a infrared thermometer.

The roof is a screen? If so is the screen a fine mesh like a screen door or a wide hole type or NO screen at all?? Does the T 5 have a reflector on it? The stand alone thermometer has a probe or no probe?

Sorry I didnt explain properly I have a wooden viv so it's mounted to the top.
Yes there is a reflector.
Also, I forgot to mention he has an evo thermostat so the probe on that is near his basking spot.

Thanks

Is there a piece of basking decor directly underneath approx 12-15 inches?

Ok your good -- you don't want your humidity too low - they say that causes RI-- Tracie and ahbd need to give some insight on the meds etc--

Hello,

How is your dragon doing?
The tube UVB light is on top of the screen or underneath of the screen?
The baytril has not been showing any improvement for him?
I would recommend keeping his overnight tank temperatures around 75-80F to help boost
his immune system. I would say to keep the humidity no higher than 30% or so since he
does need some humidity.
How is his appetite doing, is he eating very much right now?

Hi sorry just seen this.

So since I posted all his symptoms have gone and he was eating still and active on the baytril. However, a week after coming off the baytril he is lethargic and basking all day. He isn't eating much too.
Could this just be his way of recovering from the meds?

He sits under his lamp all day, he hasn't got a black beard though and doesn't seem unhappy as such, just a bit sad.

Thanks

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
