Is my baby fat or healthy?

Postby CavCat » Thu Jan 14, 2021 1:50 pm

Hello all. This is Maui, formerly Ragnar. Kids like Maui lol. He is 4 months old and measured 14 1/2 inches today and 155 grams. We got him a few days before xmas and he was 12 inches 107 grams. Is he healthy or do I have a fat beardie on my hands? He loves his greens and dubias.

Hi there, aside from being very handsome he actually is overweight. Contrary to some people's views they can be overfed at a young age just like children can. Just cut out some of the dubias, too many of those may lead to gout as well as overweight. Your dragon should have a sleeker look to him , you can watch for the large tummy bulge to go down. He'll be healthier, happier and more mobile in the long run. :)

They all look a bit bigger after eating as they should but not stuffed.

He is very active and sure does poop pretty big. I forgot how bad beardie poop stinks. His parents were both huge. Is he above average for a 4 month at 14 1/4 and 151 grams? He will be 5 months old on the 21st

Yeah he looks good. But no , it's never good to let an animal stuff itself , the meals should be spread out to a couple smaller meals a day so the stomach isn't protruding like that. When they become adults if they have the same eating habits like that they can become lethargic and develop lots of health problems.
