Do CHEs run hotter when they are bad?

Hello, I am wondering if CHEs (Ceramic heat emitters) run hotter when they are bad because I just had 2 bulbs burn out (1st bulb about a day of use. Second about 25-30 mins) that are in a dual dome fixture with a old CHE. I tried replacing the fixture but it occurred again and will try running without the CHE.

Are you using two CHE's in the dual fixture? If so I'd probably recommend against that.

They are made to withstand a lot of heat, it might likely just be the socket on that side of the fixture is bad. Or the CHE's you bought were bad. I'd try a different fixture first though.

Sorry what I meant is I am using a 100W bulb with the CHE in the dual and I believe that the CHE is overheating the bulb causing it to blow out. I have never had this problem and have had this setup for well over a year so I believe the CHE is bad and overheating. Already replaced the fixture put the CHE and bulb back in and the bulb blew out in around 25 minutes. I doubt the fixture is to blame

It's possible the CHE is drawing too much. What are the wattages of the bulbs you're using vs the rating for the fixture?

100W for fixture and CHE

You may have a bad fixture - you can try getting a ceramic dome for a 150 watt -- see if that helps

I have already tried replacing the fixture, it did not work.

Ok so the bulb may be bad or your plug in---
Try a different bulb - if it works and not over heats your good - if it still does it may be the plug in-- it is process of elimination
