Hello everyone,
I’m sort of a newbie so please bear with me.
I inherited a 100 gal tank and an 8 month old bearded dragon. The tank dimensions is 60in length and 20” height.

Where do I begin with lights?
Ideally, I wanted to get the hood style lights (flat) instead of the dome lights that I have but from what that’s not good for them?

Please help. I tried to read some other forums but it was hard for me to understand.

You need a 24" fixture w/ reflector and a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb this fixture comes w/ a 5.0 bulb its considered a T 8 distance and placement would be different from the T 5 -- keep as a back up tho

My go to places are out of stock --- these are considered the best on the market at this time
You are going to need a bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-110 and it MUST be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer--- stick ons are inaccurate for basking temps - I would start w/ a 100 watt and go from there - if you need more help please ask the T 5 has options of placement but certain things apply before that can happen --

The UVB and basking lights are two different lights --- you need a good one of each--- NO lights on at nite dragons like it cool and dark --- temps in the tank at nite should be no lower than 65 and no higher than 80 - 70's is good ---- if you need heat at nite get a Ceramic Heat Emitter -- CHE they produce heat and no light --- basking lights look like this https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/environmental-control-and-lighting/exo-terra-intense-basking-spot-light-14809.html?cgid=500202 they go in a dome---

Wow, I’m so glad I came here. Thank you for this information.

Any tips on how to get him to trust us new owners? He is very calm but whenever we pick him up his bottom mouth turns black. (I’ve read that’s a sign of defense) so I want him to trust us.

How old is the dragon? He's going thru relocation stress- you can try hand feeding-- if you just got him I would let him acclimate to his surroundings- you can put a fleece blanket or piece of clothing w/ your smell on it--- put it in his hide- approach from the side not from above he will think your a predator- hand feed greens or bsfl or super worms- I don't know his age- the beard turning black is distress- you need to go slow w/ him - you need to get the correct lighting ASAP

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
