Hello!
I got a nice small log for free at my school and I want to put it in my beardies tank. I've read that some woods are not safe (cedar) and I need help identifying this piece. I think it's beech bc the bark is smooth but please let me know what you think.

Hi there,

It's hard to tell looking at it like that. And the bark has been removed from it. But it's not cedar. It's possible it's a type of pine wood. When you press your fingernail into it, does your fingernail dig in (make a dent) or does it feel harder than that.

Pine is generally pretty soft, so if it's easy to scratch/dent/imprint, it's likely pine.

When in doubt, go without

I slide a key across it lightly and it definitely made a mark. Thanks for your help!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
