Hi all, this is my son's dragon Oli. We've had her about 18 months and she is 5 years old. She eats fine and moves around (she has free roam of the living room) during the day if she wants to. Noticed this greying of scales on hind right leg after last shed (roughly 5 weeks ago) and it's still there now. She doesn't appear to be in any discomfort and is happy in herself. Does anyone know what this could be? A friend of my son's mentioned scale rot and now he's panicking.
Thanks

Oli is going to shed- :)-- they often turn different colors from dark to light or even opaque color

Even if this grey patch appeared just after the last shed?
That's good news. Thank you karrie.
It's been there about 5 weeks now. I'll give her a nice extra long soak tonight see if that helps.

It will come off in time just let it be and do its thing- you don't want to.give too many baths it will dry her scales out--- when it gets dry and crackly take a spray bottle spray her and a soft baby tooth brush and brush her it will loosen and take some off-- never pick it off you can damage her scales

Thank you so much for the advice. Oli is our first beardie, my son saved his own money to buy her. He suffers from awful depression and anxiety and she's like a therapy animal for him. I'm so glad that it's nothing to worry about, our local vet said he would have to send her away to a different vet that specialises in exotics as he really didn't have any idea. My son will be very relieved. So happy I joined up on this group. Thank you again karrie xx

Oh wow those certainly are very different colours ? we've got a mist bottle so I'll make sure he sprays her daily. He's very good with her care and needs but I'll tell him to pay extra attention to that patch. She's got annoyed with me now so she's gone back to her viv ? thank you both xxx

You're welcome ! Please post any health concerns here before calling a vet. It's often something that can be answered here by experts. I see that your vet is not competent for beardie care but at least he can refer you to someone if you ever have an emergency but again, it's still good to check here where people have many years of experience and can guide you in the right way. :)

Yes I will do so in future. We live in wigan in Lancashire and Oli would have had to have been sent to a vet in Manchester. My son was already having panic attacks about that. The vet was completely honest with me about his lack of reptile knowledge. You've both been so helpful and kind. I really appreciate it. Every day I'm learning something new ? such wonderful creatures. I will definitely be a regular visitor here xx

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
