Basking spot advice??

Postby Tignaw » Sun Jul 05, 2020 11:04 pm

I recently just got my Adult beardie, Gnaw, a new basking lamp after I heard the dangers of red heat bulbs. I got her a 100W Zoomed white basking lamp and have it about 6 inches above a rock. The lano sits on the screen lid but while she seems to enjoy sitting under it, I felt the surface of the rock and it felt uncomfortably hot to me.

So that got me worried that it may be too hot for her under belly. So what do you guys use as a basking surface and are they able to safely perch on rather hot surfaces or should I change that?

Shes not on it currently as of right now. Shes asleep so lights are off.

You need to get a accurate basking temp taken w/ a digital probe thermometer-- place the probe on the place where she sits let it sit there for 10 minutes or so you dont want it over 110- its nice to offer a piece of decor that she can pick a spot to sit for temps something like this ... gid=500116 this can be laid in the tank different ways for them to sit stand or lay on -- you also need this to get a accurate temp ... gid=500202
