Hunting out Glass to Surf

Hello!

Back with my leatherback behemoth Tad Cooper. He has been waking up out of his brumation and today I would say officially it is over. He got a bath and had pooped a lot, and also went on a walk today(have slowly been introducing him to the outdoors with his harness on).

However, now he is glass surfing. Specifically glass. He only has a small area of his terrarium that has glass and he has been surfing on that(not his reflection because the glass has been scuffed up to prevent). I brought him to my room to run around however, and he specifically went for my window and has been window surfing at my actual window for about a half hour now with short breaks. In my room he is isolated from the other pets, in his terrarium he can see the dog and cat but have never seemed bothered by either.

In his terrarium he has a basking spot, 101° at it's hottest, and several cool hides. Bulbs have just been replaced, and the UVB are Reprising UVB tubes. He has access to both greens and dried crickets and mealworms, of which he has eaten some. But he just seems to be looking for glass to surf on. Has anyone seen this before?

You took him outside now he wants go out again -- I would look at getting rid of the dried crickets :bleick: and getting live insects -- way better for him -- I recommend dubia roaches - you can order them and worms from here http://www.dubiaroaches.com -- and some silk worms another great staple feeder you can get them from here http://www.reptilianarts.com if ordering in bulk like 50 make sure you get food you will need to feed them daily and clean out their containers as well - they come small -- you can also order from here http://www.coastalsilkworms.com or here they are high on shipping http://www.mulberryfarms.com

I'm not looking to change his food - I've worked with my vet on this and he was switched off of live because he was having digestive issues with the live, and at times would not eat live at all. Tried roaches, crickets, mealworms, etc. Everything still gets dusted and he eats regularly.

I'm really just looking into, is the glass surfing normal coming out of brumation? I've read in certain areas it is. He also is leaping at the UV bulb in one corner, which I've read happens sometimes. Just curious, I'm going to be talking with his vet tomorrow.

Yes hes full of energy so the glass surfing w/ the coming out of brumation is normal - spring fever so to speak --- what kind of digestive issues w/ the live insects ? Basking temps not being high enough could contribute to that -- the leaping at the UVB is not normal --- how many UVB's do you have in the tank and what are they? T 5's or T 8's? Distance plays a role - you dont want them to far away or too close for another

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
