Please help! The tip of my bearded dragons tail fell off. She doesn’t look to be in any pain. She was sitting on my chest and I noticed it gone. It was looking and feeling weird for a few weeks now but I thought it was due to her shedding (she’s shedding hardcore right now). There doesn’t seem to be any black going up her tail now or before it fell off. Is there anything I can do?

Yes start w/ some raw unpasteurized honey on the tip --- a couple of times a day to prevent infection - you can dab the end of it -- do not feed crickets in the tank w/ that on -- the crickets will go straight for that tail --

I read that the tip could just die on its own from injury and isn’t always tail rot. It looked and felt weird for a few weeks, almost like shriveled up and super dry.
We basically saved this bearded dragon from a neglected home. There hasn’t been any signs of a typical tail rot.

If you want you can post pics so we can see what is going on w/ it -
https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ click on XIMG at the top of the message box then click on the pic it should post -
the honey is a precautionary measure to prevent infection and yes it can die off and fall off on its own sometimes an infection can start that is why I suggested the honey --

Thank you for the honey suggestion! I’ll have to go out and get some unpasteurized honey.

It looks like a clean break- but I would definitely keep an eye on it and get the honey to have on hand - and watch for any color changes red - black etc-- if it turns color or starts doing funky things you can repost for help

No - just leave it alone-just dab on -- I would put it on before you shut lights off at nite so it has time to sit on it and again in morning-- just don't feed crickets in the tank - or feed one or two at a time so you know how many is in tank - you don't want any in the tank over nite---

Hello,

That is a clean break with no blood involved, right?
As Karrie suggested, try getting some raw, unpasteurized honey to help keep the tip from
getting infected. Though, it is not looking bad at all. A lot of dragons lose their tail tips so
he will be just fine! Thankfully for now, there isn't any tail rot involved.

Hi! Yes it was a clean break with no blood! Phew!
I’m going out first thing in the morning to get some honey.

Thanks so much for all the tips and reassurance. Makes me feel a lot better knowing a lot of beardies lose their tail tips. New beardie mama over here so was very nervous at first!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
