New cage, hammock not working, HELP

Postby Beardielife17 » Fri Apr 03, 2020 3:53 pm

We recently bought a new enclosure for a bearded dragon. The old enclosure was a 40 gallon glass tank that we had to hammocks hanging in. We have tried to hang them in the new tank which is Melolane with suction cups and and 3m sticky hooks, neither have worked. The sticky hooks actually bubbled the back of the tank. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to hang up or something different that can be used similar to hammock?

Are you using a coil in the tank? And the basking light is a All in One--? As far as getting the hammock to hang is a good question - I have never used hammocks in my tanks simply because i could never get to stay either so I just quit trying -- some others on here might have some ideas for you

Kerrie- The coil light is a UVB bulb and the basking light has the UVA in it. In the old cage we had the basking bulb and a T5 tube light He just set it up differently in this one

That coil is bad and will cause issues- I would go back to the tube you had-- that T 5 is a way better bulb

Its only in the one spot in the coolside he gets little to none from the bulb as it is and defitenly wont get any while he basks go back to the t5 the coils and useless and causes eye issues and the make an annoying buzzing sound. The basking bulb should already emit uva which is for cognitive functions, i would defiently offer more uvb to maintain strong bone mass

They do not work. Created a bubble on the back of the cage

What type did you use? it created a bubble becuase of trapped air. The adhesive on those are strong make sure the surface it was put on isnt grimey dirty or wet cause it wont stick as good. Warm water on the rag will remove the sticky residue left over from the adhesive and if not acetone will just make sure it's a little on a rag so it doesn't bother your beardie here are some similar things to what I was talking about for possibly hanging your hammock as mine is hung up with adhesive hanger tabs or shelf adhesive hooks so that's why I suggested it. They have them in transparent color if the white is too unappealing I use transparent ones . I also use those things you put on the back of your phone that has a ring on it for the handles on my slide doors of my tank and it's made out of the same adhesive so I know its strong

Heres something similar to what I use for my slide door handles https://www.lynktec.com/products/360-sm ... BMQAvD_BwE i got mine from the dollar store for 1$ and it handles the abuse lol
