FB Dragon group elitism.

I sought out a post like this because I recently was invited to a Facebook group for BD and I'm already thinking of leaving it.

At a glance it seemed like this forum (which is taught me SO much as a first time owner) but then I see people being TOLD, harshly, how their set up has to be. I also saw someone people banned because they posted a photo of their bearded on a sand type substrate. It was just absolutely wild to me that people can be so black and white about things.

Anyway, it (yet again) reminded me how much I appreciate that I found this group. While some folks are passionate here, no one is downright rude or completely naive to differing opinions. I'm sure that falls to the moderators a lot but either way....thanks for people nice people and helping out all the newbs that come through! :blob8:

I agree, this is a fabulous resource if you're a dragon newbie. Nobody flames you for making mistakes, and the "alpha posters" are all really decent folks who are willing to answer the same questions over and over and over again, despite how tiresome it must get! I know I'd be in a mess without this forum, and it's the only place I'll go for my dragon info. Way to go, BD.org folks! :D

Facebook is the worst place to try and, voice an opinion. To many internet bullies (because in the real world they would get a good stompin)' to many fakers and to much false information to give it any legitimacy. I only go there to laugh at stories and, memes, LOL!!!

Facebook (like twitter) is a cretin and creep and troll magnet.

My advise , don't succumb to peer pressure by joining , and if you are on these , never friend anyone you don't already know in person.

I joined two FB groups and realized this very shortly after joining. People are brutal on there. I thought it would be more convenient and active than the forum here, but there is just so much drama. I would never post a picture on there because anytime anyone does everyone has to pick it apart. A guy took a pic of his two beardies together and it became a huge blowout about whether they were housed together and bla bla bla.

Now I just use them to look at funny beardie pics!

Had similar experiences with the one facebook group I joined. It had some detailed care guides, even though I don't really use facebook.

The thing that bothered me was that the admins and mods were treated as if they were beyond reproach. That bothers me. In any specialist hobby I see being open to questions and criticisms as beneficial for everyone, as long as everyone is polite of course

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
