Please help ...bearded dragon experience needed !!!

As long as you can keep the lights overhead and facing down, that should work. You don't want to leave the top off if he can climb out easily or if you have other pets in the house. Otherwise leaving the mesh top off is OK. I leave the top off of mine and suspend the lights overhead in order to create more space and to allow more UVB light to pass through.
