Closing eyes; annoyed enjoys?

Hello all! I'm about to get a baby bearded dragon really soon and I'm hyped! :D

I was wondering about their closing of eyes. I heard it's a sign of trust or enjoyment , but also that it can mean they want you to stop? Is there a way to tell the difference, apart from it trying to get away, etc?

That's a pretty good indicator. Aside from that, every dragon is different (an individual); you should be able to pick up on/learn your dragon's idiosyncrasies--body language & moods.

But do familiarize yourself with signs of stress. :wink:

I made a thread on this topic YEARS ago, hoping to get some discussion going and some theories out there.

If I try I'm sure I could find it...

But basically I think we came to no conclusion LOL. My original theory was that they do it as a test.. a trust game of sorts. Others came in and mentioned how this would very likely go against their nature. They would not close one eye as a test to see if you're dangerous.
I think the prevailing theory and consensus was that they do it to focus on an object.

Either way, until they can start talking, your interpretation of your specific dragon is probably the best you can do! :)

I didn't get that the OP (of this thread) was talking about closing one eye only.
I read the thread, and agree with fluffyslipper. Maybe the BD just has something in his eye was the first thing that occurred to me. :p

Guess there isn't a 100% way to tell everytime :lol:
