Hi guys I bought this dragon off gumtree two days ago. The women said it was a bearded dragon and she was a year old. Apparently her friend asked her to look after it for a week and then her friend didn't take it back so she sold it to me as she didn't know how to care for it.

She didn't have a heat bulb or any food for an unknown time the cage stinks even after a deep clean with bleach and reptile cleaner. She is now in a clean cage with everything she needs.

I am wondering if anyone can tell from the pics if she is a bearded dragon or a rankings dragon?

She is roughly 9inches. She's very active as soon as her lights goes off at night time she runs to the front of the glass. She eats well so far. Also whenever I try to pick her up she legs it but once I have her she is calm and just chills.

Thanks guys

Hi there, it's the size of an adult Rankin's , actually a bit larger but it is a normal [ central ] beardie. At least he looks healthy, still has some growing to do.

Hi Karrie ok thanks yes we named her lucky. She is in a 4ft viv with a 10.0 uva/uvb strip light and a heat bulb with plenty of things to climb on/hide. I thought I uploaded a picture of it but I sent the same pic twice instead lol.

We have 11 lizards 5 are bearded dragons maybe 6 if she’s one also thanks

Yep, definitely a central (a juvenile , about 3 or 4 months old , I doubt she's a year old , if she is she's quite stunted in her growth and very undeveloped).
She looks like she's got a lovely personality.

Will be needing live insects at least twice per day ( 3 x per day is better if you can manage it ).

Since you mention GumTree , you are somewhere in Australia. What state are you in ?
(I'm on the mid-north coast of NSW).

Here's my list of good places to buy your live insects online : But since you have several pet lizards already I expect you already know these.

>> I find the 50g tubs of large BSFL are a good size ( I'm buying 2 of these a month for Caesar & Cleo (my 2 newer hatchling centrals) and Wriggles my eastern water skink.

Would love to see your other lizards …. it's quite a group you have there . My family is 2x eastern BTs, 2x central beardies, 1x eastern water skink, and they manage to keep busy since they all demand regular daddy qt (snuggles and interaction).

Hi thanks for the reply. She’s a bearded dragon then that’s gonna be good to watch her grow :D she is fed twice a day because of work unless It’s the weekend.

I actually live in the UK, Essex. There is some good reptile shops around that have top quality feeder insects. We have used livefoods direct a few times.

We’re newly trying to breed our locust and roaches as it’s very expensive feeding 11 lizards lol and we still have room for a lot more.

We have 6 beardies 3 Chinese water dragons and 2 Madagascan swifts. Starting to run out of good names. We were thinking of getting a blue tounge skink next. All of our beardies love a good cuddle especially our eldest (he’s only a year and half)

If the previous owner stated the dragon is a year old, i'd be inclined to believe it. I've seen dragons that are much smaller than that and be close to a year old. Their growth can really be stunted by improper husbandry. Sometimes the improper husbandry will kill them, other times they are fighters and continue to live they just don't grow properly.

This one is clearly a fighter and I'm glad she's in proper hands now :D

My advise is find a local breeder for the bluetongue skink and buy as a baby (about 2 months old) or at most 6 months old juvenile. They are more likely to be people friendly if they've never learnt to fear humans because they've been captively breed and handled from birth.
If you lizard snuggles, you'll love a bluetongue snuggle. Both mine loved snuggles from get go and were small enough to curl up in my poloshirt pocket on in my open cupped hand.

I've seen photos of Chinese water dragons, unfortunately they can not be legally imported to Australia .
Are the water dragons a breeding group ?
What is their temperament like when interacting with you ?
I've handled wild and captive bred eastern water dragons and befriended some (in my backyard) and they are an incredible and very large dragon (only dragon bigger in Australia is the Frill Necked Dragon.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
Taking my beardie for a walk
