My observation has been that skinks and dragons do not like pooing in what they regard as their territory and if they do , they will establish a latrine area and nearly always go there if they have no choice.
They do this through instinct , in the wild pooing in your own territory is sure to attract the attention of predators.

My little ***** chooses to poop right next to his salad dish, even though he has tons of open space not near his food... *sigh* ?
