From what I understand the T5 5.0 HO is similar to the T 8 -- so it would be 6 months- the 10.0 bulb T 5 would be a year--- I would put another hide in your tank over on the right side of tank that has a platform w/ cave type in there -- you can find what I am talking about at Petsmart.com-- it would be good for him/her to bask on under the UVB-- just a suggestion
