she started out in my old 55 gallon aquarium but i decided to get her a Exo Terra 40 gallon with doors that open in the front, i like the design a lot better. its much more convienient. now i just need to find the money to buy her some extras for her cage.

There are pros and cons. Giving them an area to dig around and burrow in is good and somewhat replicates their natural habitat. In a relatively small space though, it's harder to maintain it. It can harbor bacteria buildup if it's pooped in since it's harder to clean and sanitize than a solid surface or one that can be easily thrown into the washer like fleece. I think using a bioactive substrate is a better way to replicate their natural environment but that requires a fair bit of space and planning to develop a self sufficient environment. In smaller enclosures I find it better to use a solid substrate that is easier to clean and sanitize and use things like fleece scraps or blankets to give them a spot to burrow.

took him outside for a peek the other day, it was the first nice day in Ohio since i got him, he was so scared! he looked up at the sky and tried to take off into my shirt. we’ll have to work on that once his new harness arrives

its upsetting that i have to keep adding to my dubia roach colony ): i thought maybe by now theyd be breeding enough to sustain him. theres always a ton of little tiny babies but never enough of the size i need. annoying.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
