Hi guys
My beardie is not eating much right now.
She went into brumation last year in October.
Well this year she had coccidia during this time so she never brumated.
I treated her with baycox 3x kept everything clean.
She got a clean bill of health about 2 weeks ago.

Could this be her brumation
I know the best thing to do would be to send in a fecal but I just did two weeks ago.

Anyone have experience with treating with baycox?
What do you guys think?

Hi there, it could be just from the meds. Don't worry too much, keep her lighting schedule like normal but let her sleep if she wants. Is she a big hefty girl ? Do you have pics of her ? You could offer non dairy soy yogurt as a probiotic. Walmart has several fruit flavored brands. Just a few drops is needed.

Yeah she weighs 730G
She gained 40 g back after treatment with ponazuril

but now she's not interested in food again

Very large girl, she is just doing what was postponed by the treatment so no need to worry. What is her length ? Her weight is very high for almost any dragon so watch that she doesn't become obese. Sadly many owners have dragons that are quite overweight but it's so common now that they don't realize it.

Okay we'll just to make sure I can send in a fecal.
I think that would be best.

I know her weight is high
I like to keep it up there in case she gets sick or something
I will keep an eye on it

Well she's basking again.
So I'm not sure if this is brumation.
I'll see if she eats today.

She did not eat today.
This is very frustrating for me

No, this is perfectly normal for a large adult dragon to stop eating during this time whether they sleep or not. Nothing to be worried about really. It's best to avoid too much deworming anyway, the meds. can ruin their immune system if given to often. She should be fine . :)

Okay thanks.
So just leave her be?
I know she's way behind on brumation it would make sense

And would it be okay to let her brumated with parasites?
Say I didn't know she had them.
Would she still make it through brumation?
She's big.

Yes, she should be fine. I owned beardies from way back in the 90's and never did anything to prep for brumation and I never had a problem with any of them. They are built to do a slow down all the way up to 3-4 month brumations.

Okay well she's been basking in the mornings.
I'll pick her up and she'll just go lay down and not bask.

It's still all normal behavior, she didn't really brumate but her metabolism is sluggish. If your'e really worried you can have a fecal test done again in a few weeks but I think she's fine. A blood test cn be done as well to rule out other problems but I don't think you'll find any problem.

Right.
Thanks.

So since her eating has slowed down to a halt it's brumation?
my local reptile said they brumate 99.9% of the time if they do their first year.
So this has to be brumation idk what else it could be :study:

Yes, most dragons will brumate, the b.d. forums are full of questions + concerns about sluggish and/or sleeping beardies this time of year. My 2 just woke up after going to sleep in late October. I wouldn't worry. :)

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
