50cm is a bit too far, yes. A T8 has an effective output at around 15-20cm above the main basking area while a T5 will have an effective output at 30-35cm. Beyond that the outputs drop quite a bit. Can you build a branch or basking spot that allows closer access to the bulb? A nice piece of driftwood or similar, allowing access to about 15cm below the UVB light should help.

Hello,

Are you using a bright white basking light?
Is the Reptiglo 10, a tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
A distance of around 20 centimers which is roughly 7-8 inches for the light. That is an
ideal distance for a tube bulb, the 10 tube. It will need to be mounted alongside of the
basking light, to protect the eyes & provide a nice heat + UVB combination for him.
Sorry CooperDragon, just moved & posted. LOL

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
