1 Year old dragon is very tiny and wont grow.

So I was given a dragon 6 months ago, he was maybe about 3 or 4 months old. I've had him for about another 7months since I got him so I estimate he's about a year old. I feed him about 5 days a week, meal worms and crickets [30 Large crk or Scoop of worms] plus greens& apple. Occasionally wax and horn worms. 110° basking spot, 55gal tank. Driftwood, redwood, rocks and water bowls in tank. He's only 12 inches and kinda skinny. Dont really know if hes a boy either. My other dragon is 8 years old and about 20 inches long, and he iz pretty fat. Am I doing something wrong or is he sick?

Hello. The fact that you have an eight year old means that you must be taking pretty good care of your beardies.
The only things that I do differently, based on BD research, is keeping the basking side at 100 instead of 110.
I also feed my beardies greens and insects everyday. Beardies need 80% of their diet to consist of insects daily until they are one year old. Then they need 80% of their diet to be fresh green and other approved fruits and veggies daily.
I believe that you should have your vet examine the new beardie to make sure that it is healthy... especially since you have another beardie. Is he eating, pooping, basking? Also remember that you should never use sand or loose substrate for young dragons.
It is wonderful that you took this little guy and are wanting to give him a great home.?

I think the 80% rule cited above is not as good for bearded dragons as was thought when someone dreamed it up.

Hello, my bearded dragon was the same way she is very healthy now, by that I cleaned her twice a week with cold water and I cleaned her water and food bowl every day! I made sure I cleaned her feces and i kept an eye on her shedding by spraying her once or twice a day and if that doesn’t help then changing around her tank might help and interacting with her more by only feeding her half her bowl size and getting her some treats once in a while. If that still doesn’t work than I suggest asking a specialist about this check for any diarrhea or vomiting.
