How much should I be feeding my baby beardie?

I was wondering how many dubia roaches my baby bearded dragon should be eating. He’s about 2 months old and I’ve had him for a little over 2 weeks. He usually only eats 15-20 dubia roaches a day along with his veggies which he is very good about eating, he loves them! But today he ate 45 dubia roaches!! And he would have eaten more! I had to stop him since I’m getting low on roaches, I’m going to the store tomorrow to get more. Is that normal? I’ve read that they are supposed to eat a lot but one lady told me that if the babies eat too much that it will shorten their lifespan so I’ve been a little bit worried about that too but I don’t think that’s true.

They can go through a ton of bugs when they hit a growth spurt. The actual numbers they eat will fluctuate quite a bit over time but eating that many isn't unheard of. I'd give him two bug meals per day all he wants over about a 10 minute span. As he approaches full size and his growth slows, his appetite will decrease quite a lot too.

Ok so it’s ok for him to eat that much, I was told that if he eats too much when he’s small that it will shorten his lifespan. But I’ve never heard that before. That’s not true is it?

That's a new one …. of cause if you give poor quality food like mealworms , superworms , waxworms , that have high fat content and low nutritional value, it's like people who live on fast food , that is going cause the dragon to suffer fatty liver decease and other issues tied to poor nutrition and likely shorten a dragon's life.

I don't limit the amount of insects my hatchlings/babies and juveniles eat per insect meal , I simply kept offering 2 or 3 bugs at a time until they loose interest ==> too full to eat more , and then stop .

All my gang are mature adults now.

I feed all my pet lizards daily, but only modest amounts of high quality live insects (crickets & silkworms) and some salad (they don't the salad each day ,but get what they leave in disguise as I give it to the crickets to gut load them.

My longest living pet lizards so far are my two bluetongue skinks who are still with us and showing no signs of ilhealth.

Ok thank you, and I feed him little Dubia roaches and I’m pretty sure that’s one of the best feeders I can give him isn’t it?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
