Hi all,

I have searched and searched and found posts about this happening once, but my baby beardie has thrown up undigested bugs 4 times now, she has barely grown since i got her, especially compared to the other which has doubled in size, and I’m not really sure what’s going on. All temps are perfect, lights are changed every 6 months, bugs are smaller than the space between eyes and they have baths ever 3/4 days in which they drink a lot of water so it cant be dehydration. Has anybody experienced this before and can maybe recommend what to do next? They’re eating black crickets and various different salads.

Thankyou!!!

*update*

She just ran from one side of her viv to the other, and for the first time threw up like a clear mucus? She has never done this before and looks fine straight away after, and she hasn’t had a bath in the last 4 days so I wouldn’t have thought water retention? I’m kinda relying on you guys as we don’t really have any reptile specialists vets in my/surrounding areas.

Thanks

I got the lizards from a breeder in Manchester, I saw his whole set up and it looked legit, he had 8 adults and 3 clutches, all looked healthy and looked after, no limbs missing or anything. I feed them mostly 3rd black crickets and sometimes tiny hoppers, and salad, I’ll give them anything they’ll eat minus of course spinach/iceberg/and baby leaves ect that they cannot eat. Mostly watercress, rocket, normal lettuce, salad bags for humans, all washed and cut up before giving to them

If they are sharing a tank , then it's very important that you separate them into their own private tanks immediately. This will be largely due to stress (the bigger hatchling is dominating the smaller one and it's likely the upchucking and other issues are nearly entirely due to this).

Assuming they are not sharing a tank , and can't see each other , I suggest
1) cut the baths - not necessary and it could be the hatchling has been ingesting too much water in the bath.

2) invest in at least 3 digital thermometers (that are similar to these : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-LCD-Digital-Temperature-Thermometer-Fridge-Freezer-Aquarium-Fish-Tank-Reptile-/222959498797?oid=391259141696
position their probes as follows :
in the cool zone (in the air 5cm off the wall and floor)
in the warm zone (in the air 5cm off the wall and floor)
in the hide (under it's roof)
and on the basking spot (fixed in place with some rubber bands or cloth tape)
check the cool zone , warm zone and basking spot temperatures accurately and report back

3) use live insects just a little shorter than the space between the hatchlings eyes , don't just dump a heap of insects in the tank each feed.

4) offer live insects only a few at time, let hatching catch and eat them, then repeat , keep offering until the hatchling looses interest for each feeding session.

5) are you allowing the hatching to warm up before feed #1 and giving it at least 2 hours to bask after the last feed of the day ?

Feeding and lighting schedule :
Lights & heat on when ?
1st feed when and what ?
2nd feed when and what ?
and if you manage a 3rd feed , when and what ?
lights and heat off when ?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
