Tumor-radiation or other options

So last January he was diagnosed with a chromatophoroma malignant tumor. We had it removed twice but it came back. We didn’t want to do radiation at the tome because I didn’t know if he’d survive sedation. He’d been losing weight and nothing I could do would make him gain weight.

I went to see a different vet that I had finally found beciase the tumor had grown too close to his spine to be removed. He’s finally up to around 515 grams and his organs are working fine. We don’t know if it’s metastatised. They want to get a ct to see if it has to get a full body picture instead of an ultrasound but that’s expensive. They are talking about radiation being the only option but they’ve never done it on a beardie before. So my question here is has anyone had any experience with it or gone through it? What kind of side effects or alternate treatments have you done? I want to give him the best chance. It’s a spindle cell tumor but they don’t know if radiation would be effective because there isn’t much research on bearded dragons. Any advice or help would be great.

Are there any zoo's that have have reptiles nearby , perhaps you could contact them and ask for an appointment with specialist Reptile Vet who they use , they may have more experience than a private local vet who rarely see's bearded dragons.
Or maybe a university that trains vets might helpful (the vetinary science professor may be able to enlighten you).

She is an exotic vet specialist, I’m driving about 3 hours to see her. The problem is the oncologist hasn’t treated this before. I was hoping someone might know someone. I’m in pa and I’m willing to travel. It’s just I don’t know what would even work. I’m hoping someone on here may have done this or would know of different options.

Hello,

I am sorry he has cancer like that, it makes it hard to treat.
You could consider canninabinoids for cancer. There have been some promising things with
cancer treatments.
As far as chemotherapy, I haven't gone through it with any of ours, but there have been a few
here on the board that have had their dragons go through. It depends on the severity & whether
or not it has spread much as to how well the treatment works.
How is he doing?

Sorry to hear this. :( Maybe this vet that specializes in oncology in Ohio [ helped a snake at the Columbus zoo ] could be of help.

I know that most people tolerate radiation quite well.
I’ll have to give them a call tomorrow thanks!

I haven’t run into canninabiniods, I’ll have to do some research. That’s the problem it is unfortunately a pretty aggressive tumor. I mean he’s doing fine. If he didn’t have the giant tumor on his back, you wouldn’t really know he had cancer. He’s had some waking issues these last couple of years but other than that he’s doing okay. He still eating and active.

Hello,

I am so sorry, I really hope something can be done! Do look into the canninabinoids, there
have been quite a few studies on it & it is showing a lot of promise on animals as well as
humans.
I'm happy to hear that he is eating well & seems to be healthy & active. Let us know how
things go.
Also, other natural remedies that may help with tumors are grapefruit seed extract &
monolaurin.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
