My beardie (who is about 3) has been glass surfing like crazy. I know it usually means stress but I don’t know what it could be. He’s in a 40 gallon and I’m saving money to get him in a bigger tank with new things. He doesn’t really like being held a lot and when he does get out of the tank he just runs to a corner and will hiss if I try to grab him.there hasn’t really been any changes for him

It sounds like he is curious but might be overwhelmed or startled by something outside the tank. Try setting up a clamp lamp or hanging lamp with a basking light to create a portable basking spot for him and see if that helps.
