They tend to respond well to routine, especially as they get older. They don't tend to respond to sounds or do tricks the way a dog would but you can train them to poop in a specific area or look in specific areas for food or basking sites etc.

One of my beardies will come running across a room when I call her name and hop into my hand when I place it in her tank but this is more the result of her social personality than anything I’ve attempted to teach her to do. As Cooper mentioned, through routine many beardie owners have dragons that will go to the bathroom in a specific spot, but as far as tricks go...yeah, they’re not that kind of pet. They’ll do what they want when they want, but I think that’s actually what makes them so endearing. If, however, you do become the first beardie owner with a dragon that successfully jumps for and retrieves miniature frisbees, you have a moral obligation to share your method with all of us. ?

My two 8 yr old bluetongues come when called and follow when asked to follow.

Puff and Rex both recognized their own names and would amble over when called by name. Toothless was way to independent and free spirited to do that.
They all know mummy and daddy and will respond by looking at the appropriate person.

The water skinks - they have all been little four legged geniuses , very quickly learning their own names, our names and learning to come when called , they might be small cf bluetongues and beardies but make up for this by super cleavour, inquisitive, and by have huge personalities.

When people who don't know lizards ask me about their training and behaviours I tell them
Bluetongue skinks , think scaley puppies.
Water skinks , think a mix = catdog
bearded dragons think catdog

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
