Discoloration Above Eyes, Concerned

Postby Steble » Tue Dec 12, 2017 4:12 pm

Hi,

Sherbert has had this discoloration above his eyes for a little while now, maybe about the time he's been shedding his head. He's still active and nothing has changed. Could this possibly be yellow fungus? If it is, I want to catch it quickly so I can prevent it from spreading.

Setup:
50 gallon tank
Substrate: Non-adhesive shelf liner
Heat Lamp: Bright white 70 watt flood light
UVB: Reptisun 10.0 T5HO florescent tube
Both lights 10 inches away from basking area
Basking temperature: 105-110 degrees
Hot side is 80-90 degrees and cool side is 70-80 degrees
His lights are new and don't need to be replaced.
12-14 hour light schedule, 7 am - 10 pm weekdays and 10 am - 10:30 pm weekends.
3 bricks for basking area, cardboard tube for ramp, shoebox and blanket for hide, and a bowl for food.

I feed him collard greens, mustard greens, and escarole every morning with 2 meals later of dubia roaches. They are the appropriate size and I feed him 3:30 and 7:00 pm, about 20-40 roaches a day. His poops are healthy and he is hydrated. He is not showing any other signs of illness. Thank you.

Hi there, that's not Y.F., he may just be wedging his head in certain areas to aid in his shedding. You'll see how it looks after the shed, he's fine. :)

Thank goodness! I really hope so! I'll keep a lookout on what it looks like once he's done shedding.

Your husbandry, from his lighting to his diet, is spot on and he looks to be a healthy boy. One of my beardies has some strange blotchy shedding patterns similar to the discoloration on Sherbert, but it eventually normalizes and evens out with the shedding process. Side note: Sherbert is an adorable name for a beardie.
