There's my pinterest tag for habitat ideas. I love the Mario themed one, lol.

I love the Mario one! I've been seeing that everywhere. I've been considering an Asian zen garden type theme, Mushu being a Chinese dragon from Mulan. And thank you so much. The first link is perfect! All I'd have to to is build the stacking part into the top and bottom of each tank. I want to be able to detach them for cleaning.

Do you have a Petco nearby? They are doing their $1/gallon tank sales right now. Good place to get what you need.

I've thought about it. But our closest petco is almost two hours away. And I'm kind of looking forward to the project of building my own. I like to create things :blob5:

-whines- Now why did you post that? Gr......I'll have to make room for a second beardie! -flails- I'll contact them and check to see if they still have them.

And yes, Vivariums are the enclosed tanks with the open and shut doors in front. :D

I guess a stacking viv plan might come in handy for you too, lol. That's what I thought. I always make I fuss when my roommate calls them terrariums...

I have some pictures to post later :) Sorry I don't post during the day. I'm in bed by noon everyday. Night shift. :dontknow:

Today is my day off. Woo!

Anyway, I went grocery shopping this morning and saw a bunch of awesome things I want to get to furnish Mushu's very bland tank. He's so active that he needs the running room  Maybe when he has a larger tank I'll be able to furnish it a little better.

As I promised I got pictures.

I think he was annoyed I turned his lights on late this morning... He's the only early riser in the house, haha.

Drinking from his water dish... for the first time! Took him forever to figure it out.

77789-7132398872.jpg
Spilled his water dish all over his freshly dried tiles...

I don't know I you can tell in this picture, but Mushu broke his tail when he was a baby and has a large bump where the bone healed improperly. It's starting to look better, but it makes shedding his tail difficult.

Freshly scrubbed and ready to ruined again.

He spent a full minute licking my battle wounds yesterday. I think he feels bad. Do you guys think I should file his nails?

Wow' he's very handsome! :D As for nails from what I see on the pics they don't look to be very long... but if they are too sharp maybe try ussing some slate stones? They should fill the nails a little :) Or some type of wood branches?

I clipped Scaleys nails a little while ago. They're still sharp just not as long, I would recommend filing for sure. The tiles should help but not if he's not running around on them a lot.

You should look at getting some more climbing surfaces so you can maximize your tank space. If you can figure out how to make a second level that sits over his food dishes that he can run around on with a ramp or something then you can give him more room without moving to a new tank just yet.

Mine lives on her hammock, and I have a couple different levels so she can regulate her heat without too much problem. She rarely sits on the bottom of the tank.

Scaley also drinks from the bowl, it's pretty cute to watch. I can some times get her to take it from the top of her nose but she's picky.

Thanks for posting pics. I'm living vicariously through other people until my girl comes out of brumation.

Thank you! They aren't very long, but they get pretty sharp. The tile on his tank is something similar to rough slate. I was hoping replacing his tiles would help dull them, but so far no luck. I'm probably just super sensitive.

I have plenty of nail files. I'll probably get more scratches filing his nails than I would handling him normally. He hates his feet touched.

I've been looking for logs and stuff, but my area is extremely limited in reptile supplies. I tried scavenging for natural wood, but haven't found much. I'm starting his new tank soon which will have a platform and ramp in it. I have a hammock in my bedroom, but they don't seem stick very well and I'm worried about him falling.

I started with dripping it from a syringe, but that's so time consuming. I actually dropped a worm in his water dish and he went after it. Afterwards he looked at me like 'mum why didn't you tell there was water in here' (Mushu is British in my head, I have no idea why)

I'll be sure to post lot's for you :D Wouldn't want you to start going through withdrawal!

I just don't get it... I see all these people bringing their beardies outside in the bright sunshine. They all look like they enjoy it. Every time I bring Mushu outside he crawls onto my shoulder and sulks with his head under my collar. He gets really dark and stressed out. Is there something you guys do that makes them more comfortable?

Scaley was seriously weirded out the first few times she went outside. I tried to acclimate her to it by taking her outside for a little bit at a time. I would hold her so that she knew she was safe.

Eventually she wasn't as weirded out and she would sit on my lap in the sun or on my shoulder. Again getting her used to it and increasing her exposure over time helped.

Make sure they have a good watersource as they can get dehydrated. Also once they're comfortable make sure they have a leash as they'll take off and they can move quickly when motivated.

One of their natural predators are birds, I notice she likes to keep an eye on the sky and will head to the trees to climb around if it's too open.

Yeah, I think the birds really freak him out. He'll be fine and then something will chirp. I've been trying, but after two years I'm wondering if maybe he just doesn't like it.

Vash loved outside but hates car rides. Broly likes outside not sure about cars though he has been in cat carrier. Im not sure without it. I take an emory board for my boy since they're sharp but long to trim the tips. Maybe Mushu hates it but maybe in time he will. Broly won't wear a leash he gets mad if i put it on. I end up holding him in a chair.

Mine only have a balcony to use to be outside. I have a chair set up with a thick towel for them to sit on, graduated to get down on the floor and lots of hiding places. The longest they stay in the sun is about 1/2 hr to 45 min but they'll stay on the balcony in the shade all day, then find a place to sleep. I tried to take them outside (down on the lawn) but they HATED it, so as they feel safe on the balcony, that'll be their outside space (one at a time, though).

Poor Mushu, he must still feel like he's open to prey, some dragons just don't like being outside or not too far away from the house. They just feel exposed when under that big sky.

Cierra got outside somehow (I have a 2' high partition that they can't climb) and stayed outside all night. Couldn't find her anywhere, so went to bed. I knew she was still in the living room somewhere but never thought she'd get past the darned barrier!

Hello again friends :) I know I've been gone for a loooong time, but I do have a huge update on everything that's happened in the last little bit. I still have Mushu obviously, he's doing great. Still just an much of a porker as always lol. I also just got a snake yesterday. She's a ball python and I've named her Bellatrix, Bella for short. She's awesome and I love her. I also have a Rottweiler mix named Thor, I don't think I ever introduced him.

As for me, I'm good, but I've had a lot happen in the last few months. Back in November I found out I was six weeks pregnant, which kind of explained the whole not being to keep anything down. By the time I went in for my next check up, the doctor had informed me that I'd lost the baby. It was a big blow for me because I had been under the impression I wasn't able to have children. I'm not sure how much of my health history I've shared on here, but I only have one ovary because of some problem cysts I've had since I was 14. The doctors told me my hormonal imbalances wouldn't let me carry children for more than a week or two. So this was a really big hit for me, but it wasn't everything. When the doctor did the second ultrasound he found an enormous cyst that had been mostly hidden by the baby. They decided to do surgery to take out the baby and the cyst since they'd have to go in for the cyst anyway. A few weeks after the surgery I got a call and had to go in to talk to the doctor. It turns out I have a rare form of ovarian cancer that shows up in the form of tumors on the ovary every few years. He said this isn't really going to risk my life in anyway, but It's still something I need to keep an eye on. If I get to many of the surgeries to remove the cancer I could go sterile. Regardless he also said that the fact I got pregnant probably saved my ability to have children, I never would have known about the cyst had it not happened. So I tried to look at it like that, but it caused a lot of problems. Me and AJ never really talked about anything that happened, he was waiting for me to start the conversation and I thought he didn't want to talk about it.

The result was that a few months ago I decided to move out. This only lasted for around two weeks before I came back and we talked everything out. But after that we decided to move to Phoenix Arizona to try and get away from the disaster that is New York. We were in Arizona for like a month and stayed with AJ's sister. Who I honestly can say is the only person I've ever hated. We loved it there though. It was warm and sunny and happy. I got a job as a reptile specialist for petco (which I never got to start) and AJ got a job at Samurai Comics (which he never got to start). It was all looking great until I got in a huge fight with his sister. I'll spare you the details, but we had to come back to NY and crash with our friends. If Calvin or LeeAnn ever see this, I want them to know that they were the best friends in the world for letting us crash with them, unplanned, for two whole months.

I got a job for a local pet store, let's call it Country Max. I work in the live pet department (all the fish, reptiles, and small furry things) but most people agree that the reptile room belongs to me and me alone lol. I love my job, it's the best. But it does have a lot of the down falls of working for a larger pet store. Things like silly corporate managers who don't want you to use a lot of lights, but get mad if you keep the door closed to regulate the heat in the room... Not that that's happened...

Me and AJ just got an apartment and new furniture (we sold everything to move) and a snake. We have yet to get our dog back yet though. Everything was fine until he messed up his knee/back. We're not entirely sure what's wrong, but not even Vicodin seems to be helping which means I'm doing EVERYTHING. I love him, I know it's not his fault, but it's a headache.

Pictures next!

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
