Hello - This is my first post, although I have been following you for about a year. Gonzo is an adult male who has been a great eater of dubai (but finicky with everything else), extremely friendly and active. This winter he did not Brumate, but he seems to be going into it now. Should I be alarmed?
Thank you!

Hello, welcome to the forum!

We need a lot more information on Gonzo and his setup, like his lighting specifics, the temps inside his enclosure, substrate, etc. in order to know if it's actually brumation at all and not an illness or something dealing with his environment, like inadequate UVB lighting or improper temperatures.

How old is he exactly? You said adult, but that doesn't tell us much....

What exactly is he doing that makes you think he's wanting to brumate? Has he ever gone into a definite lengthy brumation before?

If you could post some photos of him and his enclosure and lighting that will also help a lot.

Need much more information and details on your beardie's setup and your husbandry otherwise we can't even hazard a guess.

Here's my Cheat Sheet :

If you work through it methodically , the chances are their are likely a lot of issues that need to be tweeked or changed and they will pop right out at you, if you can give very detailed answers we will then be in a position to offer help. Is impossible to help you if you don't provide thorough details .

It may prove necessary to involve a reptile vet if your bearded dragon has serious health issues. Are you in a position to afford to take him to a good reptile vet should this prove necessary ?

Hi there, yes it is possible but pics + info would be helpful to see that he's in good condition and that nothing is amiss in his tank. Here's how to post pics :

Some dragons can also just go through a phase where they hideout for a little while, partly sleeping but not really brumating. Or they can just start laying around + then seem to return to more normal activity.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
