March 26th is the day we brought Spike home. My 7 year old son picked her out at our local Exotic pet store and named her Spike. She was in an enclosure with other dragons around her size and away from the smaller ones. We were told that the babies she was in with were moved because 'they were growing faster than the rest'. Spike ran right to the front of the glass and started scratching when my son walked by. Needless to say, she got his attention and we took her home. She had a full body shed 3 days off getting her home, too. ('She' does look female (I looked when we brought her home, but not since) Spike is now, roughly 3 months old and weighs 31g at 9 inches long.
We have had some set backs with her lights, which you guys have so graciously helped me with, and her lack of eating for a little while due to her relocation stress, but she is definitely a hearty eater now. BSFL being her favorite.

When we first brought her home:

My neighbors across the street put off fireworks the other night. I had Spike in the window and she didn't seem to mind them. I think she enjoyed all the lights and colors and she didn't even seem to mind the ones that made a decent 'boom' either. I was kind of amazed, honestly. I thought the noise alone would scare her, but it didn't seem to phase her.

He was loved, very much so. I am pretty sure he would have followed my son to the ends of the earth as long as he got to be held and cuddled. I do wish I knew then what I know now, but I can say with a clear consciousness, we did everything in our power and with our vets help, to make sure what time he had with us was the best we could provide him.

I missed weigh in last night as Spike put herself to bed early and I didn't want to disturb her. She looked quite cute and comfortable under her habba hut thingy. :)

She is also not a fan of my tape measure. Haha. I need to get a flat one like a tailor uses, but I can never remember to pick one up when I am at the store. :(

******EDIT********
Apparently I am blind and had to look at the picture again. Spike is ACTUALLY almost 12 inches long, just lacking a bit.

You mean dis kind?
I usually plop them on when they're sleepy and they do the tuck and wiggle on it which makes it a little harder lol.
It seems like Spike is working on her width more than her length!

Yes! Just like that! Haha. I need to buy one. :)

You have no idea! Spike is growing faster around the waist line than she is length wise. I know they all grow at their own rates, but she doesn't look very proportionate to me now. She is ALL belly! I can't help but look at her and want to poke her chunky tummy. (I wouldn't be that mean, but it is very tempting.) :p I have quite the chubby little one.

Alucard is titled as being quite chubby, but Spike definitely out-chubs her though Alucard is about 50g heavier. That's a weird realization.
Hopefully Spike's length starts catching up

Spike is literally all belly. When I pick her up, sometimes I feel like if I move her the wrong way or touch her tummy too much that she might spit a bug out at me or something. She is actually having a bit of a time getting her big belly over the side of her one rock. (She likes to climb the steep part of it, instead of using the part that is built like a ramp.) She makes me laugh just to watch her.

I almost wonder if Spike might be a runt. :/ I am hoping she catches up in size, but I don't know.

My little chubster has been hanging out on my desk for quite a while. So far, her favorite spot is beside of the vent on my laptop where the warm air blows out. Haha. Silly little dragon.

And we have the beardie hang happening... (which looks very uncomfortable to me, but apparently it isn't to Spike)

I love her stupid little mouth lol. Stupid being used in a term of affection in this case. I refer to them as "frumpy face", Alucard has the frumpiest beardie face ever

Haha. They are quite cute. I like that, too. "Frumpy face".
I don't know why, but sometimes when I look at Spike, the 'duh' face she has sometimes reminds me of Dory from Nemo. Maybe that is mean, but that is what it reminds me of. :D

So frumpy! Old photo, but the frump is still there.

I love their little expressionless mouths.
The head-on shot of Spike looks like she is smiling :) Simon used to have smiley mouth, too.

Daw! She is so cute even if she is frumpy!

Spike does this thing with her mouth, that I haven't quite figured out. When she turns to look at me, it almost looks like her mouth isn't completely closed, like there is this tiny opening right at the end of her nose. But I think it is how the light hits her and the fact that her lower jaw comes out a little further than her upper.

Those are probably the best ones I have to describe, a bit, of what I am talking about. The second more so than the first one. I think it is just how the tip if her nose is, but it looks odd sometimes.

Richter likes to sit with the very tip of his mouth slightly opened. I'm unsure why, like a super tiny gaping. It's nothing physically wrong cuz I've seen him close it fully, but sometimes it's just the slight mouth crack. I don't think I have a photo of it, but its kind of like you could put a straw in his mouth and he'd be able to sip. I call him a little mouth-breather.

Spike may be doing the same thing. I haven't seen it too much with Alucard yet. Her mouth is usually clamped shut like a bear-trap.

Yeah! Like that! Haha. I never thought to explain it like that though. Your way made a lot more sense than mine did.

I think it is just something that Spike does, too, because if she moves or something catches her attention she will clamp those jaws shut to the point that I don't think anything could get back them.

And once again, the weather is icky outside and it is taking its toll on my poor little one. She ate her breakfast, but is being quite the lazy, sleepy head so far. I can't say that I blame her. If I could I would more than likely sleep the day away. I don't know what it is but the rain on this roof just makes this calming sound and makes me sleepy.

Caught him in the act! It's like the face he makes when lost in his own head. Just add straw!

I got my clan a pop-up tent for outside, but it's a heatwave here and raining daily so it's been crazy humid. Should arrive Saturday and it isn't supposed to rain then. Rain makes me sleepy as well. Dragons don't seem too affected

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
