Thanks for posting this, it absolutely should be a sticky! I checked and my vet, who is a board certified Reptile vet is listed, as well as another board certified Reptile vet that is an hour and a half away from me that once operated on and then did the aftercare for my male beardie that passed away at the age of 12. Do I can verify that this list actually lists very experienced reptile vets! I've searched on some other sites and they are never updated and hardly ever list only Reptile vets, but rather ALL vets that will "see" reptiles, which means nothing. So this list is a very important tool, especially for new owners that cannot find a good, experienced reptile vet.

Please make this a sticky!!!

Feel free to HERP / REPTILE VETS to this if you have good ones.

Thanks for posting this and yes this should be a sticky! Really important for those in need to get to a qualified vet/herp.

That's the list I usually recommend as well. I'm not sure how regularly it's updated though so I usually also recommend calling around beforehand to check and see if the vets on staff have experience with dragons. When they do they're usually pretty proud of it and will make the choice more clear.

Someone slap a sticky! :blob8:

My new vet is listed on both (woohoo!) and I actually found my vet using the herp connection link prior to this post being made.
The difference between an exotic vet and a herp specialist is ridiculous, and potentially life saving.

The vet seeing Simon when she was passing away helped, and though I do not believe a specialist would have been able to assist any further regarding cancer, after taking Alucard and Richter to the specialist 30mi away, my mind was blown.
The vet seeing Simon stated she was a herp vet, but turned out to be an exotics vet specializing in birds. There was no saving Simon, but some of the advice she was giving me was incredibly wrong or questionable, having recommended a mercury vapor bulb over a T5 desert bulb, and suggesting moss as a substrate. While in Simon's critical moments, hours before she passed, I was texting this vet for help only to receive some pretty inexperienced replies ("They generally turn darker when outside" after sending her a photo of Simon full black beard and limp in my hand outdoors.) The best thing about her was that she did diagnose Simon was retaining fluid immediately, something I never even noticed, and she did assist in her passing, with a full necropsy, at no charge. Again, an experienced vet would not have been able to save her from cancer, but perhaps at least diagnose it.

Upon arrival to the new vet, before the specialist even saw me, her assistant asked for a run down of both of their enclosures. Temps, ages, bulbs, brands, bulb ages, substrate, feeders, size, etc. The prior vet NEVER asked these at all. Not that all exotic vets are this inexperienced, but to me this was the different between a Chinese-made knock off versus the real thing. There is literally no comparison. Not to mention the entire staff, including reception, was a lot more familiar with beardies even though they staffed doctors for all animals.

Invest your money and time in an experienced HERP SPECIALIST, not an exotics or a "jack of all trades" vet.

Thank you so much! I have been struggling with my rescue beardie past few months and I have not been able to find a certified specialist. I have taken her to an exotic vet a few times but she can't find anything wrong with her.

Thankyou! It can be quite hard finding a qualified reptile vet in the area of Australia I live in, thanks again!

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
