I'm sure this has been asked before, if so I'm sorry. We got a baby beardie at the end of December. He's approximately 6.5 inches long. Last week his nose started to shed and soon after he stopped eating. It was gradual. There were 2 days where he ate but not near his normal amounts. Now he just won't eat anything, no crickets, worms, or greens. I've been putting baby food on his nose so that I know he's eating something but it's not enough. Is the decreased appetite because of sheading? How long does it take to finish shedding? It seems to be talking forever. Some little pieces have fallen off but not much. What can I do to make sure he stays healthy and strong?
Thanks!

Hello,

Sorry your little baby is having some trouble.
Shedding does cause marked decreases in appetite, that is for sure. Is he still shedding right now, just bits & pieces?
Is he eating much of the baby food or just a little here & there? You can use a plastic dropper or plastic syringe to try & get more food into his mouth instead of dropping it onto the end of the nose.
Have you tried bathing him to help with loosen up the skin.
Can you review your tank setup with us to be sure everything is good as well, such as the type/brand of UVB, temperatures, supplementation, etc.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
