Hello, I just read through the 'lighting for newbies' thread but still have a few questions if someone can help.

Can someone specifically tell me what I need to mount this bulb in my enclosure? - http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-fluorescent-bulbs/11442-504983/zoo-med-reptisun-10.0-uvb-bulb.html

They suggest under counter fixtures from walmart but there are about 100 different types and I don't know where to start. Can someone tell me exactly what kind I need that will fit this bulb and then how to hook it up? I have a wooden enclosure.

Thanks in advance :)

That is a t8 bulb and for a beardie to get anything close to what it needs from that particular light bulb he would have to be within 6 to 8 inches from it. A t5 is what you should use, it can be between 10 and 14 inches away and get maximum effect. Seeing that you have a wooden viv, I would suggest the reptisun 10.0 t5 ho bulb and fixture so you can mount it in the ceiling.

The fixture will but the 5.0 bulb is not strong enough, get the 10.0 t5 ho bulb seperately, that's what I had to do. I know its a pain but, they don't come with the 10.0 you have to order it.

I use these, they have a great reflector on them, and they seem really durable. They also carry a lot of different sizes.

so if I get this fixture in a 24" I should get a 22" bulb, is that right?

I thought I had hit jackpot with that zoo med hood but of course it has the wrong bulb  so this is the cheaper option, thanks!

That's correct on the bulb size.

It seems like it would be easier to mount, but I have never heard of this one. Just be sure to get one at least 3/4 of the length of you viv and get the 10.0 t5 ho bulb, you should be good to go.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
