This morning my 9 year old beardie Freddie has these weird holes on his skin. There is a light brownish liquid v.slowly leaking out and it doesn't smell at all. The holes are on the top of his tail and the underside of his neck. He's pretty much on his last legs as he's so frail and sleeps all the time, last vet check up a month ago said there was nothing wrong with him at all he was just really old. I've tried to get an appointment today but there is no reptile specialists able to see him until tomorrow.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be???

Hi, sorry that this is happening. The one on the top looks sort of looks like a cricket bite. Are there any crickets left in his viv? If o you hold take them out right away, crickets are known to bite beards in the night. And I'm not sure about the one on his neck  It looks like it might be infected. I suggest putting raw honey on it or pet Neosporin. Hopeful he gets better soon!

Poor little guy.....9 is old but they can leave a few years beyond that. I agree with Todd that it may be a cricket bite....unless you haven't fed him crickets. Whatever it is I also highly recommend raw honey [ like from a health store ] In general it heals wounds faster because it makes the wound sterile and helps tissue granulation at the same time. Of course you would need to be sure there are no crickets hiding anywhere in the tank and also keep him on a smooth surface like newspaper or non adhesive shelf liner. Nothing loose like sand that will irritate it. Hopefully your little guy will live the rest of his days pain free.

Hello,

Ouch, that looks painful! I agree, a cricket bite seems the most likely culprit to me also.
Can you review your tank setup with us, such as the type & brand of lighting, the UVB light (type & brand) & supplementation he receives too?

Hi beardielover, thanks for the reply, and to everyone who replied to my original post. Unfortunately Freddie passed away later that night. He seemed to perk up a little from spending all day in the sun but then just slept away. He's now got a fab spot at the end of the garden in the shade surrounded by plants; despite being cold blooded he always loved the coolest spot he could get!

I am so sorry for the death of freddy. I completely know how you feel because my beardie died last friday. She escaped and her head was run over by a car. Freddy will be remembered.

my apologies for being a year late... did you ever get a necropsy to see what exactly happened to the poor darling? i'm so sorry for your loss. my 6 month old beardie (Dexter) just got diagnosed with early onset MBD today.... luckily I took him in early enough to where we could diagnose it, but no damage has been done to his body yet. i'm so sorry that you couldn't get him into the vet in time. that's horrible. but you did the best you could. i want to thank you for loving your bearded dragon. you hear about so much beardie neglect, and it's absolutely devastating to hear that an innocent reptile died because of a human not caring enough. but i really hope you understand that you did a good job. thank you.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
